The Overseas Medical Practitioners Group was established to assist overseas qualified medical practitioners seeking registration and employment opportunity to practice medicine in Australia. Among our friends we have a great number of new migrants to Australia. We have helped many in adapting to their new conditions of life in Australia. Many we have found had little knowledge of wh

at to expect or what to do on arrival. Even the simplest tasks such as opening a bank account or finding rental accommodation for somebody new to Australia can be daunting. Many of our migrant friends were fully qualified international doctors, who had to face the additional difficult and long process of qualifying to practice medicine in Australia. Soon we found ourselves helping these doctors in preparing for their Australian Medical exams by finding them study partners. From there we found ourselves organizing training in small groups. This form of training proved the most effective, and we began to receive a lot of positive feedback with requests to continue our work and arrange study groups for other foreign doctors who want to practice in Australia.
