🧬 Every cell in our body follows a strict biological code, ensuring it grows, functions, and eventually dies in a controlled manner. But sometimes, this code is altered, leading to cancer.

🔬 Cancer begins when a cell accumulates genetic mutations that disrupt its normal regulation. These mutations can arise due to random errors in DNA replication, environmental factors (such as UV radiation, smoking, or certain chemicals), or inherited genetic predisposition.

🚨 One key change is the loss of control over cell division. A healthy cell knows when to stop growing, but a cancerous one ignores these signals and keeps multiplying uncontrollably. Over time, these rogue cells can form tumors and even spread to other parts of the body.

Ovarian cancer is one of the most silent and challenging gynecological cancers to detect. In Argentina alone, around 2,400 new cases are diagnosed yearly, but only 25% are caught early. Why?

Ovarian cancer often shows no apparent symptoms until it has advanced, and there is currently no effective method for early diagnosis in women without risk factors.

🧬 At Oncoliq, we’re developing technologies to detect the earliest molecular signals of cancer, long before symptoms appear. We’re already collaborating with leading healthcare teams and institutions across Argentina to begin clinical trials focused on the early detection of ovarian cancer.

🚀Este año recorrimos distintos puntos del país visitando hospitales y clínicas que se suman a nuestra misión: acercar tecnologías innovadoras de detección temprana a cada vez más pacientes.

A través de la medicina traslacional, buscamos cerrar la brecha entre la ciencia y el sistema de salud, para que cada avance esté pensado con foco en lo más importante: las personas.

Hace unas semanas estuvimos en Viedma, en la provincia de Río Negro, para visitar el Instituto Multidisciplinario de Oncología, para dar inicio a nuevos ensayos clínicos que nos permitirán seguir llegando a cada vez más pacientes.

En nuestro último encuentro, nos reunimos con el equipo de Tórax del Hospital de Clínicas en la Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires, para avanzar en el desarrollo de un nuevo test de detección temprana de cáncer de pulmón 🫁.
