Shropshire Ecotherapy Exploring the mental health benefits of spending time connected to nature. This includes gardening, walking and other forms of outside exercise.

I am also an advocate for counselling and mindfulness. The benefits to health and mental wellbeing of spending time in a green space are well researched and recognised. You can reap the rewards of the outdoors if you are by yourself, with friends, family or with a qualified counsellor. This page aims to promote good mental health for everyone, with an emphasis on what is available in Shropshire.

ℹ🌿NEUTRALITY IS INVALIDATION

Invalidation is a form of relational trauma which, over time, harms the brain and nervous system, and also results in the disintegration of any healthy bonds of connection, and dissolution of trust in others. Healing requires the slow, ongoing work of diligent growth in character, self-awareness, and love.

Not counselling but the opportunity to meet with likeminded individuals in nature through the Shropshire Wildlife Trust.

Not counselling but the opportunity to meet with likeminded individuals in nature through the Shropshire Wildlife Trust.

The theme for this year's Mental Health Awareness week is loneliness. Here at Shropshire Wildlife Trust, we know that being immersed in beautiful, natural places and wildlife can have a restorative effect.

Spending time in one of our reserves, watching the butterflies or listening to the bird song might start to combat some of the loneliness that we feel.

We run many events and opportunities that can get those of us who may be feeling lonely or isolated outside regularly and socialising with friendly and likeminded people.

Have a look at our What's On page to find an upcoming event near you and find out how you can get involved here: https://www.shropshirewildlifetrust.org.uk/events
