This goes to show my nutrition is far from perfect. The picture doesn’t include the Cookie Butter that I will happily dive into with a tablespoon, sourdough bread on the counter, homemade pancakes, etc. I go through ups and downs like many of you when it comes to food, but the serving sizes is what gets out of control quickly for me.
The jar of white chocolate chips (chocolate chips not shown), just a small handful is what I grab at first. What actually happens is the one small handful becomes 2 or 3.
Chips are my downfall. Before I know it, 1/2 the bag is gone. And let’s be honest, Tostitos Scoops, Lentil Chips, Veggie Straws - all chips, all processed.
Recees Puff cereal (my fave), 1 cup becomes 2. Can you see the cycle????
I’m not saying you can’t eat these foods or have a cup of coffee. The problem is what these foods do to you over time. Chronic inflammation, bloating, constipation or diarrhea, headaches, brain fog, sugar highs and crashes, poor sleep, no energy, dark circles under your eyes, breakouts - the list can go on and on. I think I have touched on all of the above in January.
I have been on this roller coaster for the past month, always telling myself tomorrow will be different. I will start being mindful of my food choices on Monday. Guess what?? It doesn’t happen.
What happens - is that I get sick and tired of literally feeling like S**T!! My sleep suffers, lack or no energy, workouts suffer and joints hurt.
My point in all of this - if you are honest with yourself about your nutrition, it’s a starting point. If you have a game plan for the next day, more than likely to follow through. Do you have to be perfect? Absolutely not! But I want you to know is that I get it. For me, it’s not trying to eliminate everything. I just start small. It gives me some success, some hope.
