“What besides food can get into the smallest cells in our bodies and change them? From the moment food hits our saliva, which begins breaking it down into various enzymes, food will change who we are for the better or for the worse.”

Designing meals around veggies as the main dish offers several benefits. It often results in a more nutrient-dense diet, as vegetables are rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.

This approach can also be lower in calories and saturated fats, promoting weight management and other health benefits.

Last, but most certainly not least, it allows for greater creativity in exploring diverse flavors and culinary techniques.

The image above has a purple cabbage sautéed with onion and apple with ACV and an herb blend of seasoning that contain rosemary. We had this with some chicken last night.

This morning I took a big serving of the cabbage and cut up an Italian Chicken sausage and reheated it all in the skillet. So yum for breakfast with my Pure Path bone broth protein hot cocoa on the side.

How do you use nutritional strategies to work in those extra veggies? Share in the comments!

Tips to get more water in when it’s cold and you don’t feel thirsty.

1. Try warm water with a wedge of lemon (or if you’re like me and don’t care for lemon fry a wedge of lime). Doing this first thing upon waking helps to get your digestive system started for your day. Get hydrated and help
Your gut…Win/win!

2. Opt for herbal teas or warm broths as hydrating alternatives. Be sure to either use natural sweeteners like honey, stevia or monkfruit if you add anything to them. My favorite herbal tea that needs no sweeteners because it is naturally sweet and also helps manage blood sugars is Gold Mountain Spice from The Tea Madame in Tacoma, WA. (Link in comments)

3. Use an insulated water bottle to keep your drink at a comfortable temperature. During winter months I use about 1/3rd the ice I normally use during warmer months. I don’t desire cold drinks as much, but I like them cool.

4. Set reminders on your smart watch or phone to establish a regular hydration routine. You may not have thirst cues because you are so dehydrated. Setting a timer for every 15-20 minutes to take 2-3 swallows (not sips or gulps) can help prevent the feeling of needing to use the bathroom too often as well.

5. If drinking plain water isn’t your jam and you’d rather have some juice or flavor to the water, you are not alone! I personally do not love the taste of any water. I use Ultima electrolyte mix in my water to make it more juice like. Ultima has a lot less sodium than some of the other brands and clean ingredients. You can also try infusing your water with fruits like berries or cucumber for added flavor without extra calories. I am currently working my way to this level of sweetness as I slowly lower the amount of Ultima I’m using.
