Did you know, some people think I'm crazy! 🤣🤣🤣

How do you fit it all in they ask, working full time as a secondary school teacher, running an online yoga membership, all the other life stuff, oh and doing an MA!

It's a lot but that's just how I roll. When I started my teaching job I did scale back my other interests for a couple of years, because let's face it, teaching in the UK state system is intense!!! But I need different kinds of stimulation in my life to feel fulfilled, I've always been like this, having different projects on the go.

And whilst I did find it a challenge to manage when I was younger and would sometimes overcommit and then feel exhausted, I know myself better now. And yoga is something that helps me tune into my body and my energy and know what's good for me and how much I can commit to.

How do you make things happen? Let me know in the comments.

Using the motto 'Done is better than perfect', which I first heard from Player many (I think around 10) years ago.

If we wait for perfect it may never happen. Just go for it rough and ready, or as would say take consistent messy action.

Last year I was talking with my sister

about having lots of projects on the go and balancing them

and she said soemthing which really resonated, that it's good to go with the ebb and flow of life.

Yes!

I love to follow my energy, and acknowledging the benefit of this helps to let go of or resist the guilt feeling when I've left something for a while that I haven't been feeling in flow with. Sometimes we need a break.

I'm a big dreamer.

A daydreamer.

Are you?

Sometimes it's nice to daydream.

But when it comes to important dreams that we feel strongly that we want to manifest, we need to take action.

I also find myself sometimes spending too much time on dreaming and not enough taking action.

Sometimes I feel totally in flow with making my dreams happen in different areas of my life, for example in growing my yoga membership. Sometimes I feel stuck or like it's hard, but then I feel into whether I should keep going with that dream little by little or park the dream until I feel the energy flow again.

What do you think?

I believe that we can change our futures based on the actions we take now. And yet the mysterious 'destiny' is some how appealing.

Perhaps as that involves less decision making and action taking.

Yoga is a spiritual path and through connecting with ourselves and our breath we are aiming to connect with our highest self and the universe, what flows from the universe. The concept of destiny does exist in yoga, called Divya. I would say that destiny is about finding what fulfills you and what you can be generous with and give to the world, and we can take action towards this.

Let me tell you something...

In the past there have been times when I felt traht the system was getting in the way of me being happy.

Meaning I have to work full-time when I'd love more relaxing time
Meaning I live in a flat whilst others own 3 houses
Meaning that there is unfairness and discrimination in the world.

Whilst I still think the system needs to change and capitalism by design sets us up to be unhappy (so that we buy buy buy more things to make us happy), there are ways to connect with the yogic philosophy, a philosophy shared by other spiritual paths, that we have all we need within us.

That when we are grateful for what we have and accept whatever is going on arround us, we can feel more content.

That's not to say that we should let things go and stop standing up for social change. But that we should work at recognising what we can let go of, what we can accept, thinking of the bigger picture and how we can stay strong like a tree that blows in the wind but doesn't blow over.

Let me tell you something......

This year I've been practising yoga for 11 years, it could be getting close to 12, but I don't remember the date I started!

And yoga practice has been a constant in my life and helped me in so many ways.

Yoga is my go to for feeling good.

My go to for relaxation.

My go to for tuning into what I feel and need in the moment.

My go to for moving and shifting emotion.

My go to for letting go of stress.

My go to for finding balance.

Just go for it! 😍 What can you let go of or dream in as you sleep tonight?

I know it can feel hard, either to start a new habit, routine or project, or to get back on one you've had a break from. If it's something you know is good and important for you then it's important to make time to make it happen.

What's the thing you've been putting off or that's been hanging over you?

Is it something you need to let go of? Perhaps it's no longer serving you. Perhaps it's an old dream that no longer feels good to aim for. Can you let it go?

Perhaps now isn't the time, perhaps you actually don't have capacity for it right now. Can you park it? Or set aside time in your diary when you are going to pick it up?

Or is it something that you do need to do right now. How can you make it happen? I'd suggest taking really small steps so you get the satisfaction of achieving them that can spur you on.

For example, for years I wanted to practice yoga in the mornings but never managed it. I had done once when I was working either part-time or freelance so had a lot of flexibility, but on top of full-time work I just couldn't get going.

Then one day I realised I was aiming too high and that was stopping me getting started, so I decided to aim for 5 minutes of yoga a day. And that shifted everything and meant I was able to get started then build up length of practice over time.

More recently I really wanted to reach out and connect with my audience on social media, but my day job was full on, I went for a promotion (which I got🥳) and my energy was low for a moth or so as a result. So, I parked this aim for a while until I got my energy back.

And here I am 😁

Of course I have to say yoga but...

There are lots of things that make me happy

Tasty food
chocolate cake
spending time with close friends
seeing family
walking in nature
swimming
wild swimming
lounging in a sunlounger
reading a good crime novel
developing ideas and projects

In your daily life and/or yoga practice today

-Accept how you feel
-Accept what's going on in your body
-Accept what you need in the moment
-Accept that everything changes

I love how yoga asana practice gives us the space to tune in with our bodies and minds and encourages us to accept what is. To accept that being is enough. Being whatever you are in this momnet is enough.
