Teach me how to TOFU 👅
Here’s how I make my extra crispy tofu fries 🍟
✨1️⃣ Press tofu for at least 30 min (I did mine wrapped in paper towel, pressed between 2 plates & weighed down with some rice)
✨2️⃣ heat enough oil to cover the bottom of your frying pan over medium heat - in the meantime, cut your tofu into planks
✨3️⃣ transfer planks to a bowl & toss tofu in ~1 tbsp cornstarch & 2 tsp of salt
✨4️⃣ test the oil temperature with one strip of tofu. Once it starts to get sizzly around the edges, you know it’s ready! Add your tofu planks & cook for 2-3 min per side, until golden
✨5️⃣ carefully remove from pan & let cool slightly over paper towels. Sprinkle with additional salt if needed & enjoy!
SAVE for plant based protein packed snack or side 🌱
These are SO GOOD on their own with spicy ketchup or as a protein source in a wrap or sandwich 🥰

I challenged myself to drink my morning cappuccino without distractions a few weeks back & then ran out of coffee 🤪 I originally set this intention to practice mindfulness & prevent anxiety from hitting me hard in the am.

But instead I contemplated my whole relationship with caffeine & realized I’m not a cramming student or late night server anymore. 2 per day was no longer serving me well. Tolerance to caffeine changes over time as does metabolic rate, so it was time for an adjustment.

My first few days of decaf were easy. In the absence of another option, I found myself so desperately clinging to the caffeinated good stuff. I couldn’t determine if I was a caffeine or coffee addict. Instead of being hard on myself, I tried my best to treat myself as I would a client: with compassion & curiosity - not judgement!

Pumped for my @nespresso.ca pods is an understatement - my routine felt totally thrown without them. In conclusion, after all this experimentation, I’m sticking with decaf until caffeine is the craving. We’ll cross that bridge when we come to it. Thank you to everyone who chatted with me about their own journey to decaf. I learned a lot about personal preferences & priorities 💛

• restriction diets aren’t fun • dieting increases risk of eating disorders & food anxiety • your love may be real for initial rapid weight loss but your body isn’t thrilled for the long term effects •

• the claims diet books & plans are often fake news • they are often not supported by scientific evidence for effectiveness or improved health outcomes • they don’t make anatomical or physiological sense • they are disguising themselves of intentional starvation •

I relate to wanting to look my best & taking any means necessary to achieve what I believed that to look like. I realize now there is no right or wrong way to look healthy.

I am anti diet because I couldn’t imagine this harm to continue to be under the radar, undiagnosed & normalized the way it is in our culture.
