Who remembers stepping into high school for the first time? I can’t say that I do 🙋‍♀️—but I sure remember the nerves of walking into something new.

Right now, kids everywhere are facing that same mix of fear and excitement. New schools. New halls. New questions of who am I, and where do I fit in?

🙏 Join me in praying that they:
✨ Walk in confidence, knowing they are exactly who God designed them to be.
✨ Resist the pull to shrink back or change just to fit in.
✨ Are led by teachers with wisdom and supernatural insight to guide them well.
✨ Overflow with love, joy, peace, gentleness, goodness.
✨ Have the courage and self-control to step away from gossip and cling to what builds them up.

Here’s to a generation walking into school with hearts set on shining His light. 🌟

👑 Taking time to fill up on what matters most Renewing my mind you Got stand for something or you’ll fall for anything. 👑
If you don’t know what God says about you, you’ll start to believe what the enemy whispers to you. 🚫 Lies like:
“You’re not enough.”
“You’ll never change.”
“You’re too broken.”

But let me remind you of the truth:
✨ You are a son.
✨ You are a daughter.
✨ And the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the grave is ALIVE in YOU. 💥

You’re not fighting for victory—you’re walking in it.

I said yes to something I knew very little about—horse therapy.

I’ve loved horses for as long as I can remember… and I’ve been on a healing journey just as long. The idea of marrying those two loves—healing and horses—felt like a natural next step.

But there was no perfect plan. No facility. I had just finished my season at the barn and was boarding horses, wondering how it would all work.

I used to believe that after praying, it was my job to figure everything out. Hustle. Push. Make it happen. But God gently began teaching me:
If the enemy couldn’t make me bad, he’d make me busy—even with good things.

So I learned to wait. To praise Him before the breakthrough.
To trust what He placed on my heart
even when I was full of doubt,
even when I couldn’t see the full picture,
even when I felt unqualified.

I didn’t know what it would look like. I still don’t fully.
But I wake up each day choosing to follow, choosing to love, choosing to serve the broken-hearted through horses and compassion.

It’s been messy. Beautiful. Hard. Holy. Worth it.
And through it all—God gets the glory.

Please join us as we celebrate 5 Years of 605 Roots
Saturday, May 31st
Live music, fellowship, and a whole lot of gratitude.
Come see what only God could have written through a broken story made beautiful.

From Intern to Impact Maker!
Kaelin was our very first intern at 605 Roots, and what a delight and honor it was to work alongside her. With a genuine spirit and gentle heart, she brought so much light and dedication to everything she did.

This Sunday, she walks across the stage and into a brand-new season—and we couldn’t be more proud. Help us celebrate Kaelin as she steps boldly into the future!

The next generation is rising—and they are strong, kind, capable, and full of purpose.

We see you, Kaelin. We believe in you. And we can’t wait to see all that God has in store.

Trauma doesn’t wait for memory to take hold. It begins even before birth—during pregnancy, in the womb, and certainly at the moment of separation from a biological mother. Factors like lack of prenatal care, substance exposure, high maternal stress, or delivery complications—all of these experiences begin shaping a child’s brain before they ever take their first breath.

That’s why it’s so important we talk about brain health. Trauma physically rewires the brain, especially during those early, critical stages of development. While a child may not consciously “remember,” their body certainly does. What might look like defiance or meltdowns to outsiders is often a nervous system stuck in survival mode. The child isn’t “bad”—their brain is simply reacting to cues we can’t always see.

Parenting a child who has experienced trauma requires intention, education, and immense patience. It often means parenting against every natural instinct—staying calm when everything inside says to react. It means learning to see the behavior as a communication of distress, not disrespect.

So the next time you see a parent struggling, try compassion before judgment. Instead of saying, “That kid just needs discipline,” try asking, “How can I support you?” or saying, “You’re doing a great job.”

We need to get trauma-informed. We need to get brain-informed. And we need to remember that every child’s behavior has a story—sometimes one that began long before they could speak it.
