JujuPear’s Therapy by Design:
SPACE ENVIRONMENT AFFECT OUR HEALTH + WELLNES
As an architecture and interior designer, who is a consultant for international green and healthy building and having a doctor sister, I hope to share my experience and ideas about the impact of the space environment on health, and hope to improve the quality of the environment we and our next generation live in.
What is "Therapy by Design"? "Therapy by Design" is the use of design innovations and methods to allow different spaces in our lives to heal our body and mind, and improve health wholistically. Modern research says that 90% of people spend indoors in buildings, so we can imagine how much the indoor space environment affect us.
The history of architectural design has studied and explored the interaction between the human body and the built environment space from the Greco-Roman period, including the human body as a mathematical ideal figure in life, the use of human body proportions and buildings, cities during the Renaissance, to the popular human body Proportion and functional interior space, furniture and accessories. The Vitruvian Man (Uomo vitruviano, The Vitruvian Man) in 1487, Leonardo Da Vinci drew a perfectly proportioned human body. In the 1943 Modular Man by Le Corbusier model, many scholars believe that Le Corbusier adopted the proportional system and advocated that the design should be designed according to the proportion of human comfort as the basis of the concept.
From a medical point of view, human body and mental health are based on the maintenance of the golden triangle of life. All of them are indispensable: exercise, diet, sleep, and these are closely related to the surrounding environment we are in. The environment can affect and improve our efficiency in doing anything, focus, and prevent health problems. How to create healthy and sustainable space? First of all, with the international green building and healthy building standards as references, we need to explore several important elements in the environment and our living habits and styles in order to find suitable ways to improve the existing space environment or planning new spaces in the future, hoping to achieve a sustainable realm of physical and mental health.
