Hormonal Acne in Women

Hormonal changes can affect the skin at different stages of a woman’s life—during menstruation, pregnancy, menopause, and even in conditions such as PCOS.

Fluctuations in hormones may trigger breakouts, typically on the lower face, jawline and neck.

Signs of hormonal acne may include:

• Persistent acne in adulthood
• Predictable breakouts that typically worsen prior to menstruation
• Deep, tender cysts concentrated on the lower face

The good news is that hormonal acne can be effectively managed with proper diagnosis and treatment.

Consulting a board-certified dermatologist helps ensure safe, individualized, evidence-based treatment for your skin’s needs.

Last Thursday (March 19), some of our members joined the first PDS LASER LABORATORY HANDS-ON WORKSHOP at the PDS Office.

The workshop featured a novel hybrid laser device
dual-programmed with ablative fractional CO2 and nonablative erbium glass laser.

Dr. Dawne Mendoza was joined by fellow Central Luzon Chapter members Dr. Marise Abejo, Dr. Wilsie Walinsundin, Dr. Criselda David-Javier, and Dr. Sharmaine Lozano.

Our members continue to hone their skills and keep abreast of the latest in dermatology, one convention, lecture, or workshop, at a time!

It’s Always A Good Time for a Skin Health Advocacy!

PDS Central Luzon Chapter went back last week to the Villa Maria Integrated School in Porac, Pampanga to hold a medical mission as a follow-up to the Alis Kuto program carried out last year.

We started with an interactive refresher session with the teachers on basic information about head lice (it is NOT acquired from sun exposure!) and its proper treatment.

Free skin consultations then followed, with free medications given to the concerned students and staff.

Our chapter president Dr. Suzein Manalo and our chapter Outreach Committee head Dr. Beatrice Pineda were joined by Dr. Vinna Crisostomo, Dr. Kara Melissa Culala, Dr. Diane Griño, Dr. Melody Ong, Dr. Veronica Panganiban, Dr. Amelia Rebong, Dr. Elvira Salas, and Dr. Edward Tan.

We look forward to more impactful community activities as the DermAuthorities.

With PDS CLC, let the good times for skin health roll!
