The overdose awareness event tonight at the Uptown fountain in Greenwood, SC, will illuminate the strength of community support and shed light on the importance of raising awareness about overdose prevention and the path to recovery.

As we remember those who are no longer with us, let us also honor their memory by renewing our efforts to create a world where stigma surrounding addiction is replaced by understanding and compassion. Let us work together to ensure that those who are struggling find the support and resources they need to overcome addiction and reclaim their lives.

Preventing overdose requires a complex approach: access to effective treatment, harm reduction strategies, education, and destigmatization. But it’s mainly about fostering a society where seeking help is seen as an act of courage, not weakness, and where evry individual is treated with dignity and respect.

Let us commit ourselves to reaching out to those in need, providing a listening ear, and advocating in our community and even for policies that prioritize public health and well-being. Together, we can turn the tide against overdose and addiction, creating a world where no one has to suffer in silence, and where every life is valued.

Thank you to everyone who showed support for this important cause. Together we can beat this epidemic, ONE VOICE.

The greatest victories in life are often those that require perseverance and unwavering determination.

They are not achieved through instant success but through the resilience to keep fighting despite challenges and setbacks.

It is in these prolonged battles, like your recovery, that you will discover your true strength and achieve triumphs that are worth celebrating.

What does recovery mean to me - Steven Gause

“If you catch me on different days you’ll probably get a different answer. Today is one of those days where I’m feeling my recovery means my entire life. Obviously I feel like I wouldn’t even be alive today with the rate I was going. But it’s also my entire life in the sense that everything I have in my life today is because I made the decision at the right time, in the right place, and met the right people. There are no mistakes in God’s world. I’m just glad that I lived through it to help bring me purpose. That’s what recovery is.”

“Faith is taking the first step, even when you don’t see the whole staircase” Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

What recovery means to me- by Gary W.

“Recovery today means to me that I can get up. Praise God. Lift heavy stuff. Love my life in the shortcomings. Celebrate my victories even small ones. And most of ALL knowing that no matter how bad life gets I’ve got my friends who struggle as I do and seek solutions not living in problems.
Recovery is to be reborn into a life of loving ambitions and grace.” -Gary W.

Thank you Gary for prioritizing your recovery so that you can spread hope to others- the way of a Recovery Reinforcement.

If you know any bit of my story and where I am at today, you would have no doubt in one’s ability for transformation. 📈

Mentally, Physically, and Spiritually we all have this incredible ability to improve yet we find ourselves falling short time and time again…

As many know, one of the key steps to a transformation process is your habits.

The most effective approach to this was defined by Dr. Jeffrey Schwartz. His practice is called self-developed neuroplasticity- the active process of consciously reflecting on how habits make you feel.

4 stages of a habit- Cue, Craving, Response, Reward

Cue- boredom or work
Craving- a break from boredom or work
Response- scroll social media or unhealthy eating
Reward-short term pleasurable distraction that can cause long term negative results

A productive way for growth is to respond to a cue by stacking healthy habits with immediate rewards - like listening to your favorite song while taking a walk which will bring a pleasurable response and bring continued positive results.

This is a method I have adopted and adapted into a personal development program called the Recovery Reinforced Challenge where you will try new and healthy habits and continuously reflect on how they make you feel.

This is a 30-day program that forms 7 scientifically proven habits for a better life.

Includes: A digital book, 4 step cognitive development worksheets, exercise routines, goal tracking chart, resources, 4 personal development zoom calls, and access to our daily support group.

RR Spotlight

Mike F. is originally from Miami, Fl but currently resides in Greenwood, SC.

Having lived through addiction and now living in long term recovery, he has found purpose in dedicating his life to helping others find God and recover.

He currently works in admissions at the Oaks Recovery Center and even though he has a “work schedule” his service overflows into most hours of his days.

He also runs a Tuesday night Bible study, mentors multiple men, and serves as a volunteer at New Spring Church all while maintaining his personal wellness.

Thank you for modeling what is to be a Recovery Reinforcement and for making an impact in our community.

Anotha one! (DJ Khalid voice) 🗣️

Yesterdays Gratitude Gathering was an amazing experience. We shared hope, resources, poetry, food, joy, tears, love, and vision together. 70 community members(in recovery or support recovery) came together as one voice to advocate for recovery and to show that there is hope for people struggling with mental health and/or substance use disorder.

My friends in this picture have literally been to hell and back but have fought for themselves and their families to make sure they never go back. They now fight for those who are still struggling. To help create focus in this fight, we made vision boards that support our direction of recovery in 2023.

Shout out Greenwood Abbeville Coalition Recovery Reinforced Cornerstone Cares The Phoenix Real Life Ministries and Trinity Recovery for helping with this event!

Next Gratitude Gathering will be Super Bowl night at Real Life Ministries from 6-10pm.

If you have been in recovery but still feel like somethings missing. This is for you….

New year. New me. Is the phrase I hear from people that try to start a health journey on their own.

Studies show 36% of people will not continue past January.

I created a program that covers the essentials to a healthier LIFESTYLE so you don’t become part of the 36%. It has launched over 1,500 people on their health journeys by following 7 daily rhythms.

Includes: A digital book, wellness worksheets, workout routines, goal tracking chart, resources, 4 zoom calls focused on the mind, body, and Spirit, and access to our daily support group.

4 years ago today I was incarcerated in Portsmouth City Jail. Portsmouth, VA is known for its crime, drug activity, and gangs. Due to my substance use disorder, which is rooted in many other things, I found myself in the middle of all of it.

4 years ago today, I woke up to a guard yelling, “count time” followed by “Chalaire” to verify that I hadn’t escaped the night before… I woke up fighting withdrawals because I ran out of the heroine I continued using while in Jail. I woke up sick and tired of being sick and tired and started craving change.

4 years ago today, I decided that regardless of my situation, regardless of the doubt from myself and others, regardless of how hard it would be to create a life from the bottom, I would commit to getting help and do everything I could to fight for my life.

4 years ago today, the realization that I couldn’t do this on my own and that I am willing to fight led me to do two things: commit to a 4-month rehab and build a relationship with God. That relationship is the reason I developed a mindset to follow my commitment after being released months later. It is the same reason that most people will never have to know the version of me from 4 years ago.

4 years ago today, I started a process of recovery as my first day sober but knew it would require daily action. With limited resources behind bars, I read, I wrote, I prayed, I meditated, and I exercised. I can’t explain it but those actions started forming miracles beyond belief. I still follow these same steps today.

4 years ago today, I made the same decision that I still make every single day. I will stay sober and I will seek God. This is the legacy lifestyle I committed too with nothing to my name and all odds stacked against me. It has gotten me this far, I think I’ll continue…

Greenwood and Abbeville “refused to stay silent”

Greenwood, SC is at an all time high at 34 overdose deaths.

CDC has announced fentanyl overdoses as the lead cause of death for adults age 18-45.

In the midst of this epedimedic, our community rallied together on Overdose Awarness Day in remembrance of those we have lost to overdose.

This event included; live praise music to create a welcoming environment, testimony shares to give hope and remind people that they are not alone, a candlelight vigil that included bell chimes and a rose placement for those no longer with us, support for those directly impacted by overdose, sharing of resources for those who are struggling, and recognition to those living in recovery to express support, elevate their voices, and erase stigma within our community.

Tyler Collins, a local living in recovery, stated, “It’s awesome to be in a community that’s so supportive”

This is a good reminder that we are effecting change but there is still a collective effort to be done. If you would like to get more involved contact me on Here or email at reinforcedcoaching@gmail.com

At Reinforced Coaching, our ultimate goals are to create a mindset of ownership, smash goals, and form leaders! These two guys have shown nothing short of that.

My man Dave has a physical disability of only having one full arm and just completed a treatment program for substance use disorder. Yet he has reinforced beliefs to assist in everything the Lord calls him too, run a contracting business, and outwork anyone in the gym 💪

Shumon Salah has overcome a tremendous amount of setbacks due to a substance use disorder. He has also reinforced beliefs in Christ, quit a lifelong construction career to help others as a peer support specialist and started a coaching business called Alpha Method Coaching.
