Turmeric has an active ingredient, curcumin, that can directly enter the brain and benefit the cells. It is a potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant substance that has been connected to improving memory and mood.

Curcumin stimulates brain-derived neurotrophic factors, which aids in the development of brain cells and can slow down the onset of mental deterioration as people get older. It showed in tests that people who took curcumin enhanced their memory by 28% over the course of 18 months.

It also has antidepressant properties by altering the release of serotonin and dopamine, which may help persons with depression and anxiety symptoms.

#2. Berries

Flavonoids, the natural plant pigments that give berries their vibrant colors, have been shown to aid memory. Research showed that eating two or more servings of strawberries and blueberries each week might defer memory loss by up to two and a half years.

Dark-colored berries, such as blueberries, have a plant compound, anthocyanins (a class of flavonoids), with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.

Antioxidants protect the brain from oxidative stress and inflammation, which can cause aging and neurological disorders. They aid in the communication of brain cells, which helps to enhance memory and other mental processes.

#1. Fatty fish.

Did you know that fat makes up around 60% of your brain, with omega-3 fatty acids accounting for half of that fat?

Fatty fish such as salmon, sardines, herring, tuna, and mackerel are high in omega-3 fatty acids.

Omega-3 fatty acids are good unsaturated fats associated with reducing blood levels of beta-amyloid. This protein forms harmful clumps in Alzheimer's patient's brains.

Omega-3 fatty acids help your brain create brain and nerve cells, and they're also essential for learning and memory.

Experts recommend eating fish at least twice a week; however, pick mercury-free types.
