From the times very old, man had understood the connection between mind and body and every wise person was sure about how they both affect each other. For example 9th century Muslim polymath, AL Balkhi clearly showed this relationship in his treatises on health. Unfortunately, when it comes to history of psychology or philosophy they although start with greek philosophers but skip the period of Muslim enlightenment and Dark ages in Europe etc. Then they jump straight to renaissance like Rene Descartes who gave mind body dualism He went overboard with his mind and there it lead to demarcation which is famously called Descartes error.
Now research is again clear how mind and body affect each other in symbiotic fashion. Moreover, mind has Upper hand. In the documentary *The wisdom of Trauma* Dr. Gabot Mate puts forward this assertion *if you go to a dermatologist for skin inflammation or any such condition which medication is given, steroid same is case with gastro, orthopaedic, pulmonary in certain diseases and steroid is copy of cortisol so we can infer there is some direct relationship between stress and physical illnesses. It happens because stress affects our immune response. So, eliminating and managing the stress through proper strategies can save you a lot from physical and mental illnesses.

The Importance of Mental health and the danger of mental health issues is often neglected to the point where a patient and family feel overwhelmed and burdened and oftentimes it becomes tough for the individual patient and family to manage. At this stage, patients come to professional attention where although treatment is available and possible it would have been better had we taken care of it from the very outset and worked on factors that contribute to mental health issues.

The way you are behaving, be it lashing out at someone, getting hurt, having no mood to go out to work is just a symptom of some deeper issue which you need to explore and simplify, demarcate and then process in an adaptive way.

Welcome to mental health portal, the first step towards becoming a welcoming society for mentally ill people is to accept mind and body as interactive system. While we are programmed culturally to show our pains and sorrows, through our body expressing it on a mental level is a more healthy approach. In this frame of reference as we seek and help our family seek treatment for physical ailments and abnormalities, minute deformities e.g. Using braces for crooked teeth, regrowing hair etc. We can, should and must share and care for mental illness equally.
