We were pleased to welcome local nursery children to join us for our Easter egg hunt in the garden. The visit created a lovely atmosphere, with residents enjoying watching and interacting with the children.

The children also presented residents with bunches of daffodils, which was a thoughtful gesture and very well received. These visits continue to be an important part of building connections within the community.

Cookery sessions remain an important part of life at The Rookery, and we have particularly enjoyed sharing these with local schoolchildren. Residents have been passing on their baking knowledge and tips, creating a relaxed and friendly environment for everyone involved.

These intergenerational sessions are valued by both residents and children alike. They offer an opportunity to share experiences, build connections and enjoy time together. The finished bakes are, of course, always appreciated.

We were pleased to welcome Animals Interactive to The Rookery. Their trained therapy animals spent time with residents, offering gentle interaction and companionship.

These visits can have a calming effect and often encourage conversation, especially for those who may find it harder to engage in other activities. Many residents enjoy the opportunity to stroke or hold the animals, and the sessions often bring back fond memories of pets from earlier in life. It is always a visit that is well received.

Our residents greatly look forward to our Friday baking sessions, 'Cookery at The Rookery'. Together we make cupcakes, pizzas, biscuits, and many other tasty treats. These sessions are made even more special when children from a local school join us to help.

This activity has become extremely popular and delicious! We always make sure there is plenty prepared for everyone to enjoy, creating a lovely atmosphere filled with shared smiles and wonderful aromas.

Christmas Day at The Rookery was a warm and joyful occasion. Residents enjoyed a delicious festive meal, beautifully decorated surroundings, and time spent together and with families and friends in a calm and homely atmosphere. The day was filled with smiles, conversation, and a true sense of togetherness, making it a memorable celebration for all involved.

We were delighted to take part in Christmas Jumper Day in support of Hospice of the Valleys. Residents, staff, and visitors joined in by wearing their most colourful and festive jumpers, creating a cheerful and lively atmosphere throughout the home. It was wonderful to see everyone coming together for such a worthwhile cause, helping to raise awareness and support for the fantastic work carried out by the hospice.
