Today I was grateful to spread the magic of Chinese Medicine at the Women’s Health Optimisation Summit organised by held a beautiful 18th Century Listed Hotel in Berkshire. I talked about Gua Sha and guided a group facial ritual using rose quartz stones. There were loads of wonderful talks and demonstrations. What a wonderful way to spend a Saturday.

A fascinating article in The Guardian looks at the rise of “Chinamaxxing”, a social media trend where Gen Z are embracing aspects of Chinese Medicine as part of their wellness routines.

From drinking hot water and eating warming foods to exploring gua sha, herbs and acupuncture, many young people say they are drawn to a system that feels more personalised and connected to the whole person. Ancient wisdom travelling through modern platforms like IG & TikTok.

It reflects what I see in clinic, a growing appetite for healthcare that considers body, mind, spirit and lifestyle a an integral web rather than symptoms in isolation.

Appleyard Acu Clinic has few spaces available for new patients in the coming weeks. I offer East Asian Therapies including Acupuncture, Fire Cupping, Gua Sha, Medicinal Mushrooms & more.

If you are feeling wired yet tired, more anxious than you used to be, struggling with headaches or navigating hormones issues such as infertility or perimenopause, you do not need to navigate it alone.

My clinic is a calm, restorative space set in an ancient orchard where you can properly switch off, rest & restore. Treatments are gentle, deeply relaxing and tailored to support hormonal balance, mood and nervous system regulation. The medicine provided is rooted in ancient wisdom, aligned with the seasons and works in harmony with your own natural rhythms.

Sometimes what we need most is not to push harder, but to be supported.

If you would like to explore whether this approach feels right for you, I would love to hear from you.

This Year of the Fire Horse carries a fast paced, bold and radiant quality. I will be regularly wearing my goat earrings from as a gentle way to calm and support all that rising Yang energy. Being born in a Year of the Goat makes me especially excited for a fortuitous and forward moving year.

Symbolism and talismans can act as quiet anchors, helping us hold our intentions and stay aligned as the energy of the year gathers momentum.

There are a few sentences I hear again and again in the treatment room. If this resonates, you are very welcome to get in touch and see if acupuncture could support you too.

Before clinic I take a few minutes to open the Channels and gently stimulate the body, inviting Qi to move in a smooth, steady way. It creates a calm, grounded energy rather than a rush. Soft movement and tapping, including “Knocking on the Door of Life” to warm and awaken the Ming Men (kidneys). It helps me feel centred, present, and ready to hold space with clarity and care. Self cultivation really matters in this work.

Your body is an ecosystem! The weather in Wiltshire recently has felt heavy with damp, fog, mud - too much moisture!! When these conditions show up for your microcosm it’s to do with the Tai Yin system of the lung and spleen. When they are overwhelmed, weakened or not communicating properly you can feel stuck, worried, foggy headed, heavy, bloated and might have respiratory issues. A bit like you are walking through mud & puddles! Acupuncture can help remind your system to transform and move fluids allowing u to feel better.

We gathered a little early this year to welcome the Winter Solstice. According to the lunar calendar there is a two week energetic window around this significant seasonal moment so we tuned into the Water element energy, deepest yin & stillness. We invited reflection of on the year gone by considering what can be left behind & what to carry forwards. It was a beautiful evening of rest and recharge. ❄️
