Somewhere along the line of last weekend I caught a cold. I hate colds lol. Between the runny or stuffed nose, the soar throat & ultimately the cough, they just sucks.
I make a cold easing/breathing tea each year & here are the ingredients & short descriptions of the healing properties for cold and breathing for each herb:

: Rich in vitamins and minerals, nettle helps reduce inflammation in the respiratory system and supports immune function, making it useful for colds and allergies.

: Soothes sore throats and relieves dry coughs by forming a protective coating over mucous membranes, easing respiratory discomfort.

: Its warming properties help clear congestion, improve circulation, and ease inflammation, making it effective for colds, coughs, and breathing issues.

: Known for clearing excess mucus from the lungs, mullein acts as an expectorant and is helpful for respiratory conditions such as coughs, bronchitis, and colds.

: Fennel helps to break up mucus and soothe the throat, making it beneficial for relieving congestion and easing respiratory discomfort.

: Acts as a natural demulcent, soothing irritated mucous membranes and easing sore throats, coughs, and bronchial congestion.

: Its strong, aromatic vapors help open airways, reduce congestion, and ease breathing difficulties, making it a common remedy for colds and respiratory issues.

: Contains vitamin C and antioxidants, supporting the immune system and acting as an expectorant to help clear mucus from the lungs.

: Primarily known for its calming effects, valerian can also ease breathing difficulties caused by tension or stress during colds.

: With its antibacterial properties, lemongrass helps combat respiratory infections and reduce inflammation, easing symptoms of colds.

: Contains menthol, which helps open nasal passages, clear sinuses, and reduce congestion, making it great for colds and respiratory relief.

: Warming and aromatic, cardamom helps alleviate respiratory issues by opening up the airways and loosening mucus.

: Oregano is antimicrobial and helps clear up respiratory infections by thinning mucus and supporting the immune system.

: Its warming properties help relieve respiratory discomfort by acting as an expectorant and clearing mucus from the lungs and throat.

: Parsley supports respiratory health by acting as a mild expectorant and helping to break down mucus.

: Yarrow is known for its ability to reduce fevers and promote sweating, helping to clear respiratory congestion and support recovery from colds.

I also, take some extra , Vita C, a mixture of Oregano, , & Ginger Oil. But thats just me 🤷‍♀️😉

It doesn't happen too often, so when the medical community supports a natural health solution, we celebrate that as a victory. :)

Ashwagandha is the perfect example - it's taking the natural health world by storm & the medical community is all about it!

-WebMD reports that Ashwaganda helps, "Calm the brain, reduce swelling, lower blood pressure, and alter the immune system."
-The Cleveland Clinic tells us that Ashwaganda, "Can increase energy, improve overall health and reduce inflammation, pain and anxiety."
-1,838 published research studies discussing Ashwagandha health benefits.
So it is truly a "clinically-proven" natural health solution!
But before you go out and buy some stuff at the natural health food store, consider getting Ashwagandha with Black Pepper because the health benefits are even greater!
For thousands of years Ashwagandha has been in use as a medicinal plant, especially in traditional Ayurvedic medicine because of its ability to help you:

Reduce stress and anxiety, so you can be HAPPY and PRESENT during your day, every day.
-Support healthy cholesterol levels & PROTECT YOUR HEART. Some studies suggest that ashwagandha can help lower cholesterol levels, which may help prevent heart disease.
-Balance blood sugar levels & LOSE WEIGHT.
-Lower cortisol levels and improves deep sleep, allowing you to have a good night’s rest WITHOUT the stress. Some studies suggest that ashwagandha can help people fall asleep faster, sleep better, and wake up less often.
-It can also help improve intimacy in women, testosterone (in men).
-Stress relief. Some studies suggest that ashwagandha can help people feel calmer, more energetic, and more mentally clear, and that it can help people feel like their stress is more manageable.
-Brain health. Ashwagandha may help increase brain-derived neurotrophic factor, which can help create new neurons and improve neuronal survival and neuroplasticity.
-Joint pain. Some studies suggest that ashwagandha may help improve joint pain.

It's been hot minute since I've posted anything here. Lots has happened in my life. The life changes are bringing me back to the things that make me happy, that I know well, and love to participate in.

I got full into researching herbs when I started full perimenopause and wanted to "do it" without drugs but needed some help relieve some of the strong changes that were happening. Everyone was saying things like had I tried black cohosh years ago & that one didn't do anything for me. I started looking at the herbs that were in herbal assistance and breaking down to each herb. I'd try one for myself by knowing what it was to affect & did it work for me. If it didn't, I set it aside. If it did, I added it to my ultimate tincture.

That said, here is the list of herbs that I use in my sleep tea. I buy all my herbs locally at Sage Woman Herbs but you could order from Mountain Rose Herbs also.

Side Note: quite a few of these herbs are also Anti-inflammatory which is why the help with sleep.
