How often do you just go, and try something for the sake of beauty, fun or happiness? This morning I could see a glimpse of a burning orange sunrise. I couldn’t resist. Hopped in the car to chase it down and what I found was breathtaking beauty, the calming sound of the water, cheerful sounding seagulls, and a crisp fresh air that cleared my mind and revived my senses after a groggy hot-flash filled sleepless night 🙄.

✨Absolutely worth the time crunch this morning and highly recommend spontaneous fun.

💐SPECIAL GIFT FOR YOU...A couple years ago I noticed feeling on edge, my body ached, I was stressed-out, forgetting things and had an overwhelming sense of “what the heck is happening to me?” ➡️ Something needed to change. I just wasn’t myself, in fact, I caught myself canceling plans or making excuses not to go out because I couldn’t keep up like I used to - especially hiking, which is one of my favorite ways to decompress and have fun. I was getting discouraged!

In that season of life as a laid off, peri-menopausal, recent empty nester (😓 oof, that’s a lot at once!) I needed a new game plan.

🚨What I had been doing for years wasn’t cutting it anymore.

Being a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach, I was determined to dig deep into my resources and experiment a bit. ✨What I learned was how to truly meet myself where I was to build a path through the chaos and find what works for me NOW.

In this NEW season of life I am-

💚 saying YES instead of cancelling plans;

💚 having so much fun;

💚 ready to take on whatever the day brings;

💚 feeling a deeper peace and joy than ever before!

I’m so much happier, healthier, and am loving mid-life. 💚

Meet yourself where you’re at. This is what I keep telling myself. The last few weeks have been… Something. Long story short, I’m recovering from a severe case of pneumonia. Stamina is so low, I’ve lost a lot of strength. Yet I’m determined to recover well and comeback strong! As time goes on, I will share more of this story.

But for today, I want to encourage you to take one step forward toward something that is important to you. EVERY TINY LITTLE STEP is progress and every bit of progress moves you toward the things that mean the most to you. ❤️

I am overjoyed with my five minute little walk in the sunshine. 🤗 My hope for you today is to take a tiny step and feel the happiness from doing it!

We hear the word “wellness” all the time. But what does it really mean?

Wellness means that you are intentionally taking care of yourself. You are practicing consistent habits to feel energetic, happy, resilient, and overall healthier. Your overall well-being (the combination of your physical and mental health) improves as your wellness improves. This means that you feel more of those deeply rooted emotions such as joy, gratitude, contentment, and confidence. More inner peace than you’ve ever felt before. Wellness is holistic, meaning that is includes a variety of areas of your life that combine for overall satisfaction.

YOU are worth the effort, YOU MATTER!

Everyone around you will benefit when you are feeling your best. Keep at it, my friend! The journey is worth it!

February is American Heart Month. A time to bring awareness to heart health. Heart disease remains the leading cause of death in America. The great news is that with small, consistent efforts you can strengthen your heart and manage risk factors in amazing ways!! Be sure to visit your doctor regularly for preventative care and follow up on any risk factors that might be identified. ❤️

Moving throughout the day can improve how you feel. I often hear, “but I don’t have the energy or time to exercise”. Hear me out - when you start moving your body more often, you’ll start to have more energy and are more likely to create the time. You’ll also BELIEVE in yourself to eventually do more. SMALL ACTIONS TRULY LEAD TO RESULTS. Trust me on this.

Here’s one way to get started or re-started 😉:
➡️ Pick a movement (example, squats or push-ups)
➡️ Choose how many you can commit to doing even on your hardest day. ONE squat or push-up is perfectly acceptable!
➡️ COMMIT to doing that one effort each day.

See how that goes. When it feels easy to maintain, add to it! GRADUALLY.

‼️ I hear you, “but, Jen really? Just one rep?” YEP! Whatever it takes for you to get in the routine of DOING. Of showing up for yourself, following through with your plan and doing the darn thing!

You can always do more, but LEARNING TO SHOW UP FOR YOURSELF, REGULARLY, IS A HABIT IN AND OF ITSELF.
