To each and every woman other there... you are good enough! This is such a beautiful poem ... it's so worth the read😊

TO THE WOMAN WHO THINKS SHE ISN’T GOOD ENOUGH

To the woman who looks around and wonders why everyone else is so much more capable, so much stronger, so much more ambitious than her.

To the woman who thinks everyone else is blazing a fiery path through this thing we call life, while she limps behind, barely getting through the days.

Somewhere, another woman is looking at you thinking exactly the same.

You see, we all look like we’re kinda nailing it, from the outside in.

We all look ‘together’ sometimes.
Catch us on the right day and hey, we look like we have it all.
Because guess what, we learned to look that way a long time ago.
We learned to hide our struggles behind a smile and whack on that mask every day.

And actually, we are doing each other a favour when we show up,
just as we are,
warts and all,
late,
flustered,
human.

What we really need to see is that we are all the same.
We all struggle.
We all fall apart.

Some days we nail it, other days we get nailed.

By hiding our own weaknesses, fears, worries, we give them more power.
If you let it out, shine a light on it all, it becomes so much less scary, funny even…
And goodness only knows we need to laugh.

So, to the woman who wonders if she is good enough…

If this is you.
Yes you are.
You always were.

You don’t have to live up to everyone’s expectation of how you should be coping.
You are human, flawed, wonderful, miraculous, loveable, loved.

I see you,

Now do me a favour and go see all the others too.
Spread the word,
we are good enough,
just as we are.

Stress is a part of every healthy person’s life. However, when you’re experiencing a stressful time in your life, your body may naturally make more cortisol.⁠
⁠
This can influence the body’s metabolism. ⁠
⁠
Here are some simple ways to support a healthy response to stress, which can also positively impact cortisol levels:⁠
⁠
➡️ Meditating in the mornings can balance your mind and your outlook⁠
⁠
➡️ Getting 8+ hours of sleep helps reduce the natural stress that comes from fatigue⁠
⁠
➡️ Take care of your gut because this is where serotonin (our hormone for happiness) is made⁠
⁠
There are so many ways to support a healthy stress response and something I help all my clients with - as with nutrition we all react differently to stress and what helps one lower their stress response doesn’t work for others.

So, the thing is... actually... you probably are! 😬 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Stress is all around us and we can't ignore it and whether you interpret stress as a positive or negative factor depends on many complex factors ranging from your mental and emotional state to the quality of your work lives.

So you may be thinking 'how can stress be viewed as positive?'

Well, some people get fired up & are at their sharpest mentally when they feel stressed, others of course fall in the opposite camp, as in many areas of life there are two sides to the coin.

I'm one of those people who get fired up by the right amount of stress, yet can easily get overwhelmed by too much stress. How do you feel when you're stressed?

By identifying & using practical tools for stress management we can make sure that we fully unwind. When we figure out what works for us we find ourselves more emotionally stable, increasingly sharp & productive mentally & in better physical shape.

The way we respond to stress has a profound effect on all aspects of our experience & thus any strategy to manage stress has to be generated from a holistic perspective & tailored to the individual.

Before creating a strategy that works for you, you first need to identify the things in your life that cause the most pressure & stress. From there we are able to create a destress plan, one that evokes calms, nourishes, replenishes, pampers and rebalances you.

Over the past two weeks I took a step back from posting daily, in fact I took a step away from social media in an effort to reconnect with my spouse, my family, friends and myself.

Disconnecting from social media and work was always something I practiced prior to COVID. In fact, it was how I recharged my internal battery, reset myself, gained perspective on things, took time to reflect on what I had accomplished and what I wanted to do next.

I’ve missed having that time away and so I’ve decided to limit my engagement for the rest of August. During the next few weeks, I plan to look up, look around and look inward. I say this and to be honest it’s a bit unsettling as social media has been a big part of my life during the past year, but I along with others know the value in stepping away and then coming back renewed and refreshed!

On that note I’d like to thank .ca and for inspiring me to take this step. I applaud you both for taking the time you need for yourself and I hope that others will do the same.

Whatever you choose to do for the remaining days of summer, I hope you have an incredible time and I hope you're able to take some time for yourself and time with family and friends to create memories and enjoy some laughter and good cheer!

Such a great example of self awareness and strength.

May we all develop that level of awareness and inner strength and with it be able to slow down or pull ourselves back when we need to focus on OUR own health and wellbeing.

Change doesn't need to be drastic. Real change doesn't happen instantly - we have to allow time to adapt.

I think we've all been there at some point in our lives - we set the bar too high too soon.

It could be a new diet regime and fitness plan, quitting long lasting habits or patterns that are deeply ingrained within us.

Cliche as it sounds ‘Rome wasn’t built in a day’ and neither were you!

The body and mind takes time to adjust, so be gentle and take one step at a time.

The smaller the change the easier it can be to acheve. Our brain likes a win no matter how big or small.

The true power of change is CONSISTENCY. We're all going to fall at some point but getting back up and continuing the journey is where the real STRENGTH is gained.

Be kind to yourself today and remember... small consistent changes made now open the door to big changes in your future ✌️

I thought you may need to see this today….

Whenever you're feeling overwhelmed, anxious or out of sorts, focus on your breath.

Silently say to yourself, "I inhale peace and exhale all tension."⠀

You may be surprised at how quickly this soothes you. Try it and let me know how it goes 😁

Morning routines….easier said than done…I get it… but seriously, a few minutes of mindfulness in the morning makes a difference.

A while back I bought the 6-minute journal and was using it daily…my routine shifted and I let it go…this week I’m back on track.

Taking the time to plan your day and note what you’re grateful for each morning really is a great way to start your day, but not the only way to start your day off right.

Heading outdoors for a walk, stretching, deep breathing, practicing yoga, meditating or getting in a good workout are all ways to kick start your day.

There is nothing better than coming across a message that challenges old beliefs and makes you smile + fills your heart with joy + energy on a Friday 🙌

I’ve always believed that age is simply a number. Perhaps it’s because I’ve had some incredible role models that gracefully acknowledge their age on their birthdays and then carry on LIVING life on their terms, doing what feels right, not what’s expected at ‘their age.’

No matter what your number (remember I believe age really is just a number) go out this weekend and have FUN, PLAY, LAUGH + enjoy life to the max, cuz ladies, that’s what it’s really all about!

So often we get caught up in our daily lives + we forget to have FUN + PLAY. When life is busy (and it’ ALWAYS busy) we focus on things that need to be done and forget the lighter things in life. Family obligations + career take over many of our thoughts and time right up to, and often into our middle years. Isn’t it time for some ‘you time’, some time for FUN on your terms.

This weekend make PLAY a priority + add LAUGHTER to your menu. This weekend have fun, do something you’ve wanted to do or try, step out of the ordinary, gather with friends and laugh til your belly hurts. When Monday rolls around you will thank yourself!

Great reminder from to shake things up a bit each day. 👍

There are so many quotes out there that have a similar meaning, yet this one seems to be so fitting as we begin to emerge from the COVID lockdown (in Ontario).

Perhaps your days have become routine and this routine has become your new ordinary or new normal. Let today be the day that you break free from ordinary and do something outside of your norm.

I know that I've taken on a new morning routine since COVID began and it's time that I shake things up a bit. 💃

Typically when I wake up I head to my office check my emails, SM etc. I've decided that I need to switch this up a bit and head outdoors first, check SM, emails etc., after my morning lemon water, breakfast & coffee (this is now my go-to breakfast). By doing so I'm putting myself first each day which makes a difference in my mood and mindset.

That's really just one small change in my routine which will make my day a little less ordinary. 🙌

Often we think of making big changes when we see quotes or motivational posts such as this one...it doesn't have to be something big to bring about big results...remember that and make a small change today.

Small changes really do add up.👍

As the storey goes…You really can’t pour from an empty cup. Take some time for yourself this weekend.

Today I filled my cup by spending time with a great friend while visiting Hue La La where I picked up some adorable signs for our newly painted rooms (Hello Covid Reno project) and other gifts.

Good morning! 💕 Do you have a morning routine?

How we start our day varies from person to person, but we can all agree that a great morning routine can influence the rest of our day.

I like to begin my morning with a walk outdoors, especially when the temps are a bit cooler. I find there's nothing better than breathing in the fresh air, taking in the sunshine and allowing my thoughts to ramp up slowly as I prepare for my day.

Another way I like to being my day is to sit for a few moments and fill out my 6-minute journal.

As you can see, I don't stick with one mourning routine all the time, but if I had to pick just one I'd begin each and every day with a walk.🚶🏻‍♀️

Taking care of yourself is key to managing whatever life has in store.

Prioritizing nutrition, rest, exercise, mindfulness + staying connected with friends can all help you feel better-prepared when life seems off-balance.

Planning your next adventure or accomplishing a personal goal should be on that list too!

So often when we plan our days/weeks/months/year we list all of the must-do activities related to career and family, yet we forget to include things WE WANT to do.

Your health, wellness, joy + happiness are things that you may not have considered when setting plans for your year...isn't it time you started to plan more time for YOU?

did you know your body has different nutritional needs when you're stressed?⁣

when you experience high stress, your body is working extra hard to keep you going and full of energy. your adrenal glands are responsible for managing your stress response and they require a lot of energy through the nutrients you give your body. when you experience high or long-term stress, your adrenals require such a high amount of nutrients that usually diet alone can’t meet these demands.⁣
⁣
stress is inevitable and we can’t avoid it but what we can do is be prepared. this is when strategic supplementation is helpful (after diet and lifestyle are in check) it’s SO important to work with a nutritionist or practitioner to figure out the nutrients and specific dosing YOU need because we’re all bioindividual. if you are going to supplement, quality comes before anything else. most drugstore and grocery store supplements are so cheap because they aren’t bioavailable and are filled with chemicals, preservatives, and synthetic ingredients - if a supplement is cheap there’s a reason.⁣
⁣
next time you experience high stress, start to pay attention to how your body feels. are you lower energy? do you feel sick and lethargic? is your mental health affected? while stress is emotionally exhausting, it could be a nutrient deficiency as well! ⁣
⁣
this is why it's so important to take a well-rounded approach to health. nutrition alone is not enough for most people to be supported during times of stress. we need to make sure we're supporting the body fully through targeted supplementation, lifestyle support, and nourishing the emotional body as well.⁣
