Intimate partner violence is a serious problem. Although talking about it may not be easy, it is something many people experience and should know that they are not in it alone. Whether you have personally been a victim of intimate partner violence or not, there are many ways to take a stand. Please don't turn a blind eye to someone who you think may be experiencing intimate partner violence. Instead help give them the courage they need to stand up for themselves, just as these women are doing by sharing their own stories.

However, for victims of intimate partner violence it may be an especially frightening time since high stress situations tend to escalate intimate partner violence. This video shows two women who are survivors of intimate partner violence, giving advice on how they may have made it through quarantine with their abuser. Although physical harm is the type of abuse most commonly associated with it, intimate partner violence can also present as emotional or psychological abuse, sexual violence, or even financial violence. Since many of these acts do not leave a physical scar, it can be hard to recognize. Familiarize yourself with the signs of intimate partner violence so you will be able to identify it's many faces.
