                                            Algonquin Seasonal Food Guide 🍁🌱🫐
We’re honoured to share a visual Algonquin Seasonal Food Guide, created to uplift Indigenous food knowledge, land-based practices, and cultural resilience.
This guide highlights how Algonquin communities have lived in deep relationship with the land, harvesting food in rhythm with the seasons — from maple sap in early spring to wild rice in fall.
Note: I am Haudenosaunee (Cayuga, Wolf Clan), not Algonquin. This guide was created with respect and is not a replacement for community-led teachings. It is intended to support learning, dialogue, and Indigenous food sovereignty efforts across Turtle Island.
Why It Matters:
Algonquin food systems were disrupted by colonization — but they were never erased. Today, families continue to hunt, harvest, and teach food traditions with strength and pride. This guide is one small way to honour that resilience.
Use this guide in:
• Community programs
• School curriculum
• Traditional food workshops
• Cultural safety training
It’s a living tool. Algonquin Knowledge Holders are invited to expand, adapt, or correct this version so it can better reflect the Nation’s many voices and territories.
DM me to collaborate or adapt this tool for your Nation or program.
