Most of us aren’t struggling to “say what we mean.”
We’re struggling to feel safe enough to say it and to believe we’ll be heard without being punished.
In therapy, I see this all the time:
*People go quiet instead of speaking their truth
*People talk around what they want to say because they’re scared to ask for it
*People try to stay calm when they really need to cry
Communication isn’t just about tone and timing. It’s about safety, our regulation, and trust.
If you’ve been struggling to speak up, you’re not broken. You’ve just been taught it wasn’t safe.
