🌟 We have something special to share today, it’s not just another announcement, it’s a day that has truly filled us with the sense of gratitude!

We're incredibly proud to announce that USAID-NISHTHA/Jhpiego's project with support from Unilever and in partnership with Samarthan, "Integrating Community Structures for Effective WASH Behavior Change: A Cross Sectoral Approach in Chhattisgarh," stood out as one of the top three winners in USAID Global Health Strengthening Case Competition 2023.

Health System Strengthening (HSS) is at the heart of global health resilience, and USAID is committed to making a difference. In 2023, the competition brought together 102 entries from 31 countries, all underlining the power of Health System Strengthening. This year, the competition focused on three crucial themes: Equity, Locally-led Development, and Social and Behaviour Change and the winners were carefully chosen by USAID and Accelerator's esteemed panel of judges.

The NISHTHA’s project was implemented in to establish cross-sectoral partnerships for promoting sustained healthy hygiene behaviors through Social and Behavior Change Communication (SBCC) in 101 villages across two tribal and remote districts in the state.

USAID-NISHTHA/Jhpiego utilized social and behavior change communication (SBCC) strategies to enhance the capacity of community structures in promoting healthy hygiene behavior within the villages. These SBCC strategies aimed to provide evidence-based approaches for behavioral change and create demand for WASH services. Through community-based approaches, the intervention focused on improving the effectiveness of WASH service delivery by addressing gaps in the demand side. This was achieved by raising awareness, promoting acceptability, and addressing social norms related to WASH behaviors.

Congratulations to the dedicated team behind this impactful work – Pallavi Kumar, Prafull Sharma, Dr. Pratiksha Pal, Gaurav Kapoor, Krithika Murali, Dr. Ashish Srivastava, and Dr. Neeraj Agrawal.
This recognition is a testament to the tireless efforts of our teams, working diligently on the ground to bring quality healthcare to every corner of our communities.

Stay tuned for an upcoming Virtual Showcase Event, where the winners will shine a light on their incredible work and its impact on health systems and outcomes. We'll be sharing more details soon.
