Welcome back to Resource Friday! This week we are sharing an article discussing current research being done to improve treatment for bilingual individuals who have aphasia.

For our first Research Friday, we are going to be introducing the topic of Aphasia. Aphasia is when a person has difficulty with their comprehension and/or expression of speech due to damage that was done to the brain. The video below displays people who have been diagnosed with Aphasia and their attitudes towards the condition. It also discusses some of the common misconceptions surrounding Aphasia.

After countless hours of hard work and laughter, Dr. Mamlekar (Misericordia University) and Dr. Dietz (Georgia State University) executed an extraordinary 2-hour workshop at the 15th Annual Eleanor M. Saffran Conference On Cognitive Neuroscience & Rehabilitation of Communication Disorders. During the workshop, the participants were able to identify key elements of novel AAC treatment designed for people with aphasia to support communication and elicit spoken language.
