It took me a few years to actually get into the habit of drinking a midday calming tea!
.thegoodrd

🫖I invite you to try peppermint, chamomile, lavender, or any other herbal non caffeine tea you love and have on hand and make it part of your daily routine.

☕️Ashwaghanda and sleepy time teas you can leave for closer to bedtime.

☕️I like to diffuse a bit of lavender essential oil in the room for added benefit!

I light a 🕯 candle.

And I play my favorite meditative, relaxing music in the background for added ambience and it always completes the vibe and calming effect!

Make it a habit to make time for yourself!!

Whatever you are looking for to give you the strength you need to do something, accomplish something or acquire something exists within you!

You just need to summon it and desire it and uncover it and get rod of the mental blocks that are keeping you from what you want!!

So stop looking for it outside of you, in other people or other things but look instead within you! Look inside of your heart, your mind and your deep desires!! There the strength you are looking for resides!!!

Self-care starts with your mindset!!

Self-care is not only about drinking water and going to sleep early and doing that long needed facial!! Self-care is taking a break, taking a time out for yourself, even 5 minutes for yourself WHEN things START to get overwhelming or best before you feel like you had enough.

Learn to say NO, to things you do not want to do or things that might only bring you more overwhelm and stress!

Allow yourself to cry, if you need to! It’s OK! Sometimes I look forward to my little “eye baths”, it feels good to release all of that energy.

ASK FOR HELP from those around you! Learn to delegate.
DO things that make you HAPPY! Whatever it is! This helps change your mindset to a happy one.
TRY FOCUSING on a joyful thing and then another and another! Stack these joyful moments up and allow yourself to relive that joy!

WHAT SELF-CARE ACTIVITY MAKES YOU HAPPY??? WHAT ACTIVITY BRINGS YOU JOY AND PEACE?

Getting sun? Make sure to protect your skin with an SPF sunscreen. 15-20 minutes of sun exposure without sunscreen can produce about 10,000 IU of vitamin D but of course it depends on many things such as time of day, skin tone, location from the equator, and season of the year.

It’s summer here and enjoying my dose of sunshine ☀️ but also protecting my skin from damaging UV rays.

Here’s an interesting tid bit vitamin D deficiency has also been linked to autoimmune conditions as well as mental health disorders like schizophrenia.

So sunlight is good for your well-being!

Easy way to improve how you start your day for better brain health!
🍏Add fruits that have a low glycemic index to your meal.

🫐Choose a variety of colors- these are filled with different polyphenols and antioxidants which help conquer inflammation.
🥚🍳🧀pair with a protein rich meal like eggs, tofu, chicken, or meat, nuts and nut butter too!
This will help you feel full longer and also help balance hunger and blood sugars instead of eating a high simple carb, low protein breakfast like bagels and juice or doughnut and frappucino.

Do you think getting a lot of sun is the only way to make vitamin D?

Even though production of vitamin D primarily comes from skin exposure to the ultraviolet rays from the sun, it is very important NOT to over-do the sun exposure. Skin cancers or melanoma can start developing early on and the number one risk factor is overexposure to sunlight and tanning beds.
Unfortunately many of the sun’s rays can be more damaging to our skin than beneficial, so everything in moderation!

It’s best to wear sunscreen/sunblock if going to be out in the sun for a long time (more than 30 minutes of direct exposure).
It’s the one thing I never leave my house without.. I can forget my makeup, I can forget to blowdry my hair, I may even forget to have breakfast if I’m in a hurry but never or rarely ever do I forget to wear sunscreen.

I wear an SPF 45 for my daily routine and my tinted moisturizer has SPF 45!
During the summer hot months or if I am going to be exposed to the sun for longer periods of time or baring a bit more skin I wear an SPF 50 or 75, but that’s me. I do burn lately and it can hurt!

Take care of your skin! Wear sunscreen, but also get your dose of vitamin D.
How?
Eat foods high in vitamin D3 like fortified milks or yogurt, egg yolks, oranges, mushrooms, salmon, sardines, tuna fish, beef liver, and cod liver oil.

Don’t like the sun or any of the foods above? Try a Vitamin D3 supplement 600 International units daily is a good amount! Some people may need more in colder winter months or with certain medical conditions or if they are at risk for or have vitamin D deficiency.

Disclaimer: talk to your doctor if you feel you need higher amounts and have them check your serum vitamin D levels at least twice a year! Many of us are actually low.

Who here wears sunscreen daily???

Making the time to quiet yourself, your mind, your thoughts is not something many of us are doing these days!

Seek out a quiet place to be in joyful solitude can be quite rewarding and a game changer towards finding our true self , being more mindful, or just finding our calm!

Quiteness, silence, meditation are all great mediums for better brain health🧠!
