Setting a meal intention before going out can be incredibly helpful.

Kind of like how setting an intention for your day can shift your behaviors and perceptions for that day.

Meal intentions usually fall under 3 categories:
1. Food
2. Experience/ company/ vibe
3. Convenience

I often find with clients, food is the intention less than we think. If we focus on partaking only when it’s truly aligned with what we really want - and actually allow ourselves to savor that experience - then it becomes much easier to stay consistent with our goals.

And the intention can change even with the same meal. For example:
Your family loves to get ice cream together over the summer.
Sometimes you’re really craving it and sometimes you don’t really need it.
So - sometimes you join in on the ice cream, and sometimes you go for the company without having the ice cream. Sometimes you get a small and finish it and sometimes you have a few bites.

This way, you can fully enjoy it when you really want it, since it’s not something that happens often.

Let’s be honest - if we partake in these things every time we have the opportunity, it’ll be really hard to stick with health/weight goals. But we also want these things to be lifelong and sustainable, so we pick and choose when they happen.

What’s your meal intention?

Oh heyy :) 👋🏽

I see a lot of new faces on here so reintroducing myself! I’m Nicki Parlitsis, a functional Registered Dietitian and Certified personal trainer specializing in:

💪🏽 Sustainable weight loss/ body recomposition
💕 Binge/emotional eating & healing your relationship with food
💩 Gut health & chronic digestive symptoms
👑 Autoimmune & hormonal conditions
😶‍🌫️ MCAS/ Histamine intolerance & POTS

Yes, you read that right - I believe you absolutely can work toward weight goals while healing your relationship with food :)

I’ve had my own history with disordered eating, chronic digestive symptoms, and anxiety - and was always so frustrated when the “standard protocol” for each of these made me even more dysregulated and… more disconnected from my body.

The only way I started to actually feel GOOD was through a holistic approach including nutrition, lifestyle, some supplement support, and shifting my mindset & relationship with myself/ my life.

💛 I now combine a similar approach, along with nutrition science, to support my clients (virtually!) in healing & gaining a deep understanding and trust with their bodies. One-on-one, we create personalized, doable strategies that actually fit into your real life.

👩🏽‍⚕️ I went to NYU for my Masters in Nutrition & Dietetics and am now Lead Dietitian at Nutrition, with the absolute BEST nutrition team around .passero

🎶 I’m also a massive fan of emo music and will go anywhere to see my favorite bands play live. Anywhere.

If you made it this far… I’m SO glad you’re here ❤️ If there’s something you’d love to see from this page, feel free to let me know :)

Health is so much more than diet & exercise alone.

In client sessions, we’re looking at wayyy more than just food and movement. What we eat and how we impact our health of course, but how we FEEL (both physically and mentally) often influences how consistent we are with these changes.

Think about how when you’re having a sh*t day, the urge to say “screw it, I’ll get back on it tomorrow” is stronger.

Or if you’re dealing with chronic symptoms and feeling like you’ll just “never get better” or you’re a “lost cause” do you notice your symptoms/brain tend to spiral more?

CONSISTENCY with supportive habits leads to improvements in your health.

But what leads to consistency?
- The belief that you’re actually capable of those habits (you are btw 😏)
- Support to guide you when things feel tough (from a practitioner, friend, family, spouse, etc)

The confidence in yourself - that you are strong and worthy, that you CAN reach your goals, and that your body IS capable of healing - is just as crucial as any fancy supplement, meal plan, or exercise routine out there.

So freaking proud of B for working so hard to improve his symptoms, make progress in the gym, and best of all MAINTAIN these improvements over time!

When B and I started working together, he had chronic canker sores and reflux, and was at a plateau with his gains in the gym.

After doing a deep dive into his symptoms, we identified that many of his symptoms were the result of nutrient deficiencies and impaired gut function.

Together, we created a plan to first focus on gut health through nutrition, lifestyle, and supplementation. We talked through his day to day schedule and found simple ways to add these recommendations into his daily life (while also navigating vacations!)

After gut health had improved and symptoms reduced (~4-5 months), we shifted our focus toward building muscle/strength in the gym to push past his plateau (~another 4 months).

He began to make serious improvements in strength, while recovering better from training!

B has since been continuing his health journey on his own, and is absolutely crushing it! He has developed the skills to identify what his body needs & when, and the strategies to respond in a way that supports those needs.
