A Message from the Mindstars Team

After five incredible years supporting the children and families of North Tyneside, it is with heavy hearts that we announce the closure of Mindstars (NE) CIC.

The decision to close has not been an easy one. We are devastated. Like many in the voluntary and community sector, we have been deeply affected by the evolving landscape of mental health commissioning. Recent changes within the NHS, including the abolishment of NHS England and significant shifts in commissioning processes, have made it increasingly difficult for grassroots services like ours to sustain long-term funding.

Despite these challenges, our team has given everything. Over the past five years, we have supported hundreds of children, young people, and families through our early intervention programmes, family wellbeing sessions, community events, and holiday camps. In 2023 alone, we received over 700 referrals. Our impact was clear—100% of children reported feeling more supported, and 85% of families saw significant improvements in their home life.

We’re proud of what we’ve built: safe spaces where young people could express themselves, tools that helped families better understand and support each other, and holiday camps that gave children a place to feel joy, connection, and belonging outside of school. Every programme, session, and conversation was delivered with love, care, and an unshakable belief in the power of early support.

We owe everything to our community. Your trust, encouragement, and solidarity have allowed Mindstars to grow from a grassroots idea into a beacon of support in North Tyneside. Whether you were a parent, a young person, a partner organisation, a school, or a past employee/volunteer—thank you. You made this possible.

We remain hopeful that the future will bring a renewed focus on children’s mental health—one where early intervention is not just recognised, but prioritised. Our children deserve timely, compassionate care that supports them before they reach crisis. It is our greatest hope that the system evolves to reflect that.

Though this chapter closes, the impact of Mindstars will live on in the resilience of the families we've supported, the tools we've created, and the community we've built together.

With heartfelt gratitude and warmest wishes,
The Mindstars Team (Rebecca, Marisa, Sophie and Kimberley).

We are absolutely bursting with pride for the incredible children who have shown the true meaning of kindness, determination, and community spirit! 💙✨

Meet the FABULOUS Hollie, Gabor, Ava, and Ava – four amazing young people who completed the Mindstars Intervention Programme in 2024 and have now come together to help keep our doors open for other children who need a safe and supportive space.

Yesterday, this dream team laced up their walking shoes and took on a sponsored walk, raising a phenomenal £281!

To Hollie, Gabor, Ava, and Ava and Rory – thank you from the bottom of our hearts. You are truly shining stars, and we are so lucky to have you as part of our Mindstars family! 💙

Following our Community Roundtable today, we would like to introduce you to the Amazing Rory.

Rory came to Mindstars in 2024 and completed our Mental Health Intervention Programme. Rory got so much out of the programme, so much so that he wanted to help us continue so more children can access the support he did.

Rory has raised a WHOPPING £792.81 through his Cake Sale, and he he still has some events up his sleeve!

We are absolutely blown away with the support from Rory and his family. THANK YOU from us all at Mindstars 💙

Today was our last sessions of 2024 🩵

Our lovely Family Wellbeing Practitioners have felt very emotional this week seeing the positive change in so many children who have come to us this year. They have delivered exceptonal work and the results are incredible. Thank you Sophie and Kimberley for the dedication, understanding and care you provide for each child.

To the parents, carers and children of all cohorts, we hope you all have a fantastic festive season.

We hope you have each grown stronger throughout your time with us, and your children continue to embed the strategies they have learned and continue to thrive. 🩵

For 2025, we are devastated to share that we are up against a lack of funding, but we are doing everything in our power to ensure our services continue for the many families that need us.

Our services are free of charge to access, but your donations at this time would go a long way. If you are able to support us, we would be absolutely thrilled.

We have a donation link in the comments, or you can purchase our book on Amazon 📘

From all of our team, thank you, and happy holidays 🩵🩵🩵🩵.

"As his parents we have been blown away- it’s like a whole different side to him...
The parent info has been brilliant too, they’ve been so helpful in that they give me discussion points and a full insight into what he’s been doing.
Amazing team and amazing service , very very grateful."

A star is born..

Mindstars CIC is a Social Enterprise based in the North East. Our aim is to educate and inspire children to take control of their wellbeing from an early age, empowering our future generations to reach their full potential and live more fulfilling lives. Our work within the communities we reach will assist in reducing long term mental health problems and in turn break down stigma and discrimination.

We believe that learning how to manage wellbeing from an early age is essential. By gaining the skills to manage personal wellbeing from childhood, we will be able to expand the future potential for our young ones, and avert the need for responsive mental health crisis support in adulthood.

We make mental health education fun, engaging, and we are embarking on making it digital to reach many more children in an innovative way!

Be part of our movement to make a real social change in mental health.
