If you are on a healing journey you need a dog or an animal in your life!
I want to honor my sweet Copper girl! She never truly had a small beginning because even as a pup she was big and glorious and had HUGE feet! She was famous from the start and made the cover of two magazines. I’ve had other dogs, though never a dog like this that now holds such a deep place in my heart forever!
She was supposed be my husband’s dog though she attached to me and never left my side. She was my shadow and then some for 13 amazing years. Where I was, she was!
She was 3 when God diagnosed me with Breast Implant Illness. I left for Georgia for my life-saving surgery and was gone for almost a month. Still a puppy more or less, when I returned her muzzle turned white from the stress of us being apart!
She listened better than any human, she knew me like a book, she talked back and showed me the sas, she understood me, she nurtured me, she was the best road trip buddy, she was my podcast co-host while walking in my wilderness playground for 13 years, she was the best hunting partner, and when I left to run an errand without her she sat waiting for me to return.
The only place she didn’t go with me was on the Harley though if I could have found a way she would have!
In our time together, we probably walked/hiked nearly a million miles together, maybe more.
On June 7th, she was ready to depart the earth. Her legs would no longer holder her 125 lbs. She got her last car ride, she didn’t suffer, and she didn’t hurt herself which all was a concern. It has never hurt so deeply to say goodbye.
I healed because of her nurturing. I healed because of her friendship. I healed because of her love, devotion and her presence in my life!
She didn’t judge me, she was more loyal to me than people that should have been, her love was unconditional.
If you are on a healing journey and you don’t have a dog or an animal, you need one!
In the comments, share how an animal has nurtured you!
