You may remember me from my Almost Raw Vegan days (2011-2017), where I inspired thousands of men & women to improve their health & wellness by following my whole food, plant-based 'almost raw' vegan approach, enjoying my recipes and online training programs.
While my philosophy in nutrition and health has not changed since my Almost Raw Vegan days - I continue to promote a diet that is nutrient-dense with lots of raw living foods - and I continue to promote my 'almost raw' approach. Using my Certification as a Keto Coach combined with my Certification in Plant-Based Nutrition, I have now simply refined and tweaked my previous approach by marrying the ‘almost raw’ with ‘healthy keto’ into an even healthier keto approach that incorporates lots of nutrient-dense, low-inflammation & quality foods designed to heal from the inside out and make us breeze through “the change” so that we look & feel better than you EVER imagined possible!
Well in one word "menopause".
Yup, even though I followed an 'almost raw' vegan approach to eating for well over 10 years, and back then I had lost and maintained my weight since 2007 - but then something changed in my body after menopause (I was 51 at the time) and no matter what I did, the pounds just kept creeping onto my body. Before long I had put on 25+lbs. Oh and of course the extra weight deposits itself in the most undesirable places! Ughh!
Yikkes, at that rate I shuddered to think how I would look & feel when I was 60, 70, 80+!
Something had to change! I did not want the typical ‘boxed-shape’ body that “they” say we are destined for as we approach our 40s, 50s, 60s. Not me! I wanted to be a healthy, slim, active, vibrant for all my years to come, through my 60s, 70s and beyond!
I tried for months to adapt my diet and my nutritional ways, I searched high and low, I tried a number of different approaches but nothing worked!
Until I found a healthy ketogenic diet!
During my first week of moving to a healthy ‘almost raw’ keto approach I lost 5 lbs, and after 6 weeks I had lost my 25lbs and I’ve kept it off since then! In fact, I’m down an additional 8 lbs and feel better today, at 59 years young, than I EVER did following plant-based diet!
I have my waist line back! Woohoo! Oh and I also weigh less now than I did in my 20s... Yup, I feel better than I EVER imagined possible!
Need I say more!
And no, I didn’t starve myself - I ate real whole foods, no powders, no gimmicks, no supplements, just real whole healthy foods!
More important, after loosing the initial 25lbs, I felt and looked better than I had in years, I had even more energy than before, and since then I’ve had no trouble maintaining my weight even though my hormones were still working against me!
