I absolutely love this post. I see more and more people with increasingly reactive guts, predominantly consuming meat, cutting out legumes and other plant foods that they are struggling to digest, following diets from 'a long way back', but forgetting that yes, meat and fat intake was high back then, but so were activity levels, and the intake of vitamins and minerals that de-arm high fat intake. There was balance.
Sadly, what we increasingly seem to forget about is 'the whole story' when we zoom in. The balance lies within moderation, and any extreme is at risk of 'too much or not enough' of a good thing.
Thank you, Probiotic Advisor, for spelling out an action plan so simply.
Food intolerances are incredibly frustrating, especially when you're intolerant to healthy foods.
With intolerance, foods that should be good for the gut might make you feel worse, and it may seem impossible to return to good gut health.
However, we help patients with this all of the time!
Although the process can be slow-going, with the proper support, it is possible to restore gut health and eat a wide variety of plant foods again.
