How do we forgive and still honor ourselves?

I was having a hard time getting to work today and was instead scrolling Facebook. So I stopped and took a minute to light a candle, pull a card, and allow myself some space.

On the eve of Samhain, the Witch’s New Year, I find myself reflecting deeply on the things I want to let go of—old wounds, mistrust, and the weight of past hurts seem to be the big themes for me.
This is a time to honor the wisdom of those who have come before us and to release what no longer serves us, making space for renewal.

I realize that I often carry the shadow of negative thoughts and heartaches—echoes of what someone once did, the hurt I felt, and the fear of seeing it happen again. But if I’m honest, holding onto these feelings doesn’t protect me; it burdens me. It keeps me guarded, making it hard to embrace the people I love fully. It keeps me tied to the past and tied to negativity.

So here’s what I ask myself this Samhain: How can I love with an open heart while honoring my boundaries? How do we offer grace to those we care for while still honoring ourselves? It feels like a delicate dance—a balance of compassion and self-respect.

The answer, I think, lies in releasing control over how others grow. It’s about allowing them the space to show who they are now without binding them to past mistakes. Boundaries can coexist with compassion. I can afford them the room to earn back trust while still honoring my own needs. This Samhain, I’m embracing forgiveness without forgetting what I deserve, letting go of pain while holding onto wisdom.

What are you ready to let go of this Samhain? 🌙

A moment stings—a quiet, heart-wrenching realization when you discover you weren’t as important as you once believed.

The relationship, the job, the dream... it wasn’t what you thought, and you feel the weight of it settling in. It leaves you hollow, raw, questioning everything you’ve held onto. But within that emptiness, there’s a gift.

A space opens up, offering clarity. You begin to shift, realigning with what truly calls to your soul. This is not an ending; it’s a beginning—a quiet, courageous step toward what you deserve.

It’s time to let go, to make room for the inspiration and the purpose that’s waiting to lead you forward. 🌿

Not all days are sunshine and roses.

Some days, some weeks, some months that seem to be most of a year are hard. Money is tight, people you love hurt you, long-time friends drift further away, and people you thought could be something to you show their true colors. It happens.

Some days, you are gonna feel really low, you are going to feel really lost, some days it will feel like this will last forever.

Wanna know how to get through it? You keep doing it. You put one foot in front of the other. You reach out to the people you love and tell them you are struggling. You slow down and take longer if you need to. You stop and reassess if this is where you want to be and what you want to do. You ask yourself, is what I am doing right now helping me get where I want to be and live the life I want for myself? If the answer is no, stop..... You do the right things even when no one is watching or forcing you to. Not because you necessarily want to, but because those things will get you where you want to go and closer to who you want to be.

Cut out those toxic people, let go of the people you outgrow, stop doing those harmful things that keep bringing you back to the low places in your life. It all starts and ends with you.

So far, you have 100% success rate of getting through the worst times in your life. It doesn't mean it was easy. It doesn't mean you didn't lose pieces of yourself along the way. It doesn't mean that you didn't leave with lasting scars. It means you kept going, and you did it. You are strong and resilient, you are meant for so much more than you currently have, and you can be so much more than you are if you keep pushing forward. I believe in you, and I hope you can too.

Just because it is dark right now doesn't mean it always will be.

It's 2024 ya'll! I wrote earlier in the week that this would be my year of preparations, and creating habits that help me reach the goals to be where I want to be by 40. Here are a few things I am doing today to set the stage.

Here are a few ways to start your year (and each new month) on the right foot.

**Reflect:** Take a moment to look back on the past year. Reflect on your accomplishments, lessons learned, and moments of growth. I personally love handwritten journals, but there are some digital ones that I have been looking at. So far I like Day One and Reflectly to quickly jot down my thoughts. Consider what worked well and what you'd like to improve upon.

**Set Intentions:** Define your aspirations and intentions for the coming year and month. Utilize tools like vision boards, goal-setting journals, or apps like Trello or Todoist to outline your objectives and create a roadmap for achieving them. Clarify what you wish to accomplish and how you plan to get there. I like having a digital vision board. I use the collage templates on Canva and break down boards with different areas of my life. There is a lot to be said though for cutting out pics from magazines and gluing them to a poster board in the livingroom 😊. I also write a letter from my future self journaling the year in recap with my goals and intentions set as though it has already happened. It helps me to get a clear picture of what I really want to see that year, or month.

**Clean Out Your Purse:** Start fresh by decluttering your purse or bag. Today I'm cleaning out my backpack that I take to work every day to see if I can't get down to a smaller purse-style backpack. Dispose of unnecessary receipts, old gum wrappers, and unused items. Consider using pouches or organizers to keep essentials neat and easily accessible. I buy cute little makeup and pencil pouches from Dollar Tree for small little things so I don't have to dig in the bottom of my bag.

**Clean Your Digital Spaces:** Clear digital clutter by organizing files, deleting unused apps, and tidying up your inbox. This year I really want to try Marie Kondo's KonMari method for digital decluttering and I found an app called Unroll.Me to unsubscribe from unwanted emails. I am going through and moving past clients and completed projects into archive and off my desktop and book mark bar so I am starting fresh and don't have to pile on. I'm also deleting apps I am not using (many I downloaded and NEVER used) to clear up space on my phone and work to be a bit more intentional with how I use my phone.

**Clean Your House:** Begin the year with a clean slate by decluttering and organizing your living spaces. If this seems like a huge task (like it does to me) you can do it how I am. Today I'm going to get my general house cleaning done and picked up and every week I'm picking one room to declutter a space. This week I'm starting with my apothecary shelves.

**Fill Your Calendar:** Plan and schedule activities, appointments, and goals for the upcoming month. Use planners or Google Calendar to map out your commitments and set reminders. I went back to a paper calendar on my desk I can look at daily, and I also keep it all on my Google calendar so I don't miss things on the go. Allocate time for self-care, social activities, work-related tasks, and hobbies. This year I am going to really try to use time-blocking to increase my productivity.

**Organize Your Finances:** I hate thinking about money, but like Tony Robbins says, what your focus on expands and improves. One of my big goals this year is money, so it's time to figure out where I am starting to be able to get where I want to be.
Review your financial situation, create a budget, and set financial goals for the month and year. Utilize budgeting apps like Mint or YNAB to track expenses and savings. (I am using and loving RocketMoney so far). Consider consulting a financial advisor or using resources like Investopedia for financial planning guidance.

**Manifest It:** Practice manifestation techniques to visualize your goals and desires. Use techniques like visualization, affirmations, or meditation apps like Headspace or Calm to focus on your intentions and attract positive energy towards achieving your dreams.

Blow cinnamon into your front door on the first of the money to invite wealth and prosperity in, and sage your home to clear out old stale energy and bad juju from the month before.

Embrace this opportunity for growth, renewal, and setting the tone for the journey ahead!

Happy Imbolc, everyone!

Today marks the first of the two solar festivals in the Celtic calendar and is celebrated on the first of February. Imbolc, also known as Brigid's Day, is a time of renewal and awakening as the first signs of spring emerge after the dark and cold winter.

Imbolc honors the goddess Brigid, associated with the hearth, poetry, smithcraft, and healing. She is revered as a powerful and nurturing deity, bringing warmth and light to the world during this time of year. People would gather together to celebrate Brigid by lighting fires and candles, offering prayers and offerings, and creating beautiful and meaningful symbols to honor her.

This festival has been celebrated for thousands of years and is still observed by many today, both in its original form and in modern, adapted versions. Imbolc is a time for reflection, renewal, and celebration as we mark the gradual return of the sun and the promise of spring. It is also a time to honor our inner fire, the sparks of creativity and vitality within us, and to kindle them with intention and purpose.

In modern times, Imbolc is a time to celebrate the end of winter and to welcome the start of a new year. People often decorate their homes with greenery, candles, and other symbols of spring to mark the occasion. Many also make special foods and drinks, such as warm soups and stews, breads and cakes, to share with friends and family.

Whether you celebrate Imbolc in a traditional way or in a more modern form, this is a special time of year to reflect on the past, celebrate the present, and look forward to the future. Let us take this opportunity to renew our spirits, to kindle our inner fires, and to welcome the light and warmth of spring into our lives.

Wishing you all a blessed Imbolc and a bright and beautiful year ahead!

It's cold and flu season again and everyone around me has had the crud.

Well I have so many things I recommend for it I can't help but go back to my grandma's idea of whiskey and water.

There are several potential health benefits of drinking whiskey in moderation.

These include:

It may help improve heart health. Moderate consumption of whiskey has been shown to increase levels of "good" cholesterol (HDL) and reduce the risk of heart disease.

It may help reduce the risk of stroke. Whiskey contains high levels of antioxidants, which may help protect against the formation of blood clots in the arteries that can lead to stroke.

It may help improve cognitive function. The antioxidants in whiskey may also help protect against cognitive decline and reduce the risk of developing conditions such as dementia and Alzheimer's disease.

It may help relieve stress. Whiskey contains high levels of the compound called GABA, which has been shown to have a calming effect on the brain. This can help reduce anxiety and improve mood.

It's important to note, however, that the health benefits of whiskey are only present when it is consumed in moderation. Drinking too much alcohol can have serious negative effects on your health, so it's important to drink responsibly.

Ginger Mint Toddy

1 1/2 oz Whiskey (I like Makers)
1/2 oz Ginger Syrup or 1/2 tsp ground Ginger
5 mint leaves
3 Lemon slices
Hot Water

Muddle whiskey, ginger, mint and lemon together and strain into glass.

Fill with hot water.

You can add honey to taste if you'd like.
