Here's 6 nutrients you’ll want to include in your diet if you’re trying to get pregnant, are pregnant, breastfeeding or recovering postpartum!

Choline: supports brain development, placental function + healthy neural tube development.

Vitamin D: supports fertility + decreases the risk of pregnancy complications like preeclampsia and gestational diabetes for mom, and supports healthy weight
and bone development in baby.

Folate: Optimal levels are linked with lower risk of congenital heart & neural tube defects, low birth weight and preterm birth.

Vitamin B12: Decreases the risk of miscarriage, neural tube defects and preterm delivery.

Vitamin A: Key in the development of baby's organs, eyes & body systems, vision, thyroid function, regulating iron levels, and for a healthy immune response in both mom and baby.

Magnesium: Helps w/nausea, restless legs, sleep, mood + has been shown to lower the risk of preeclampsia + gestational diabetes. And supports s***m development & motility for guys.

If some of these seem hard to get or you don't enjoy the foods mentioned, (like liver…yuck!) then consider hiding it inside another dish. My husband mixes liver into tasty meatballs and burgers and I don’t even know it’s there.

For many of us it's hard to get all these nutrients from our food so I still recommend taking a whole food based prenatal.

I personally use and recommend both or with most of my clients because the ingredients are quality sourced and they include some really key nutrients that many prenatals lack.

Needed: NMCGIVE (get’s you 20% off your first order)

Being their mom is the best! Stretching - beautiful - fun - exhausting - joyous and more than words can describe. I don’t take this role in their life loosely - it’s one of the greatest honors of my life.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the incredible mamas no matter where you’re at on your journey 🌸💕

5️⃣ Things You’ll Get Working With A Functional Fertility Practitioner
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
There’s some things about conventional medicine I’m a big fan of, but more often than not the conventional route is more about symptom management vs. actually addressing the root cause of disease.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
For example - When you get a headache instead of just popping a pill - the functional approach would step back and ask the question, why are you getting a headache to begin with. Is it dehydration? Is it hormonal? Is it due to an injury?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So a functional fertility practitioner - looks at you as a whole person, taking in all your symptoms and asks the question - what’s going on in the body at the root level that would lead to hormonal imbalances or fertility challenges whether this is your first baby or 5th!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And the cool thing is often lifestyle changes such as what you eat, whether or not you’re hydrated or how you manage stress to name a few can bring major healing and changes to your overall health at the root level.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A UK study among 367 couples found that 89% of the couples that had previously struggled with infertility were able to conceive naturally *without the help of IUI or IVF* by changing their diet and lifestyle.  https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.3109/13590849509000218
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Simply put, supporting your body with lifestyle changes impacts your health at the root level… 🙌🏻

"You’re going to have a hard time starting a family." That was story I was told + I was never offered another version. Yes, I knew my hormones were wonky but didn't know it was that bad. And those words: “You’re going  to have a hard time starting a family” were a tough pill to swallow - especially when that’s the 1 thing I'd always dreamed of creating.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And so started my long and bumpy healing journey. In the beginning it was overwhelming, expensive, and lacking a lot of answers. That was until I discovered functional medicine. Turns out I had adrenal fatigue, Hashimoto, low progesterone, genetic variations (MTHFR) and lots of gut issues! Slowly, I started to uncover the root of all these symptoms that were impacting pretty much every area of my life.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As I began to make small changes such as what I ate, cleaned up my products and dealt with childhood trauma my digestive issues cleared up, my skin glowed, the brain fog lifted and my cycle regulated for the first time in my life!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You can imagine my excitement + overwhelm when we got pregnant right away.🤰🏻While I wasn’t quite prepared for that given my history, it was evident that nourishing my body at the root level was working. After our daughter was born we miscarried so I again began to dig deeper and work on my foundations and was able to conceive & have our rainbow baby.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✨And that’s why I do what I do. I know how rough of a road it can be especially when you're alone or not getting the answers you need.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✨I believe that healing - is available for you, too. If you’re curious what that could look like, then I’d love to have a 30-min call with you.

Are you on the IVF journey or know someone who is? Share this with them - I have some encouraging news! ✨

The Foresight group, a public health organization in the UK, created a program of integrative preconception care consisting of basic health education (like what you’re learning in this course) for 300 couples struggling with fertility challenges.

🤰🏻 What they found was that within two years, 89% of the couples that had previously struggled with infertility were able to conceive naturally ***without the help of IUI or IVF***.

👶🏻 Of those who had experienced a previous miscarriage, 83% gave birth to a healthy baby within three years of the study, and without experiencing another miscarriage.

💫They also found IVF was twice as successful for the couples with basic preconception care.

✨Putting this knowledge into practice was literally the difference for these couples of having a baby or not!

The choices you make can boost your likelihood of getting pregnant naturally or with assisted fertility like IVF.

It’s time to listen to your intuition and stand strong 💫

Whether it’s about our own health or the well being of our kids, sometimes as women and moms we’re not taken seriously. Unfortunately, I’ve experienced this personally and have heard countless women share similar stories.

But I’m here to say that your innate intuition is powerful. 💪🏼 It’s wise and those little inklings are usually right.

When I first started on my health journey 8 years ago, doctors looked at me like I was crazy because all my tests came back “normal” but I still felt like 💩.

But I knew that couldn’t be right, something was “off” so I kept knocking on other doors until I started to find answers and get to the root issue. Ultimately it led me to helping other women who like me were in the same “everything looks normal” but I feel like 💩 camp.

Here’s are 5 things to keep in mind when it comes to advocating for your health:

1️⃣ Listen to your body. Observe and write down your symptoms
2️⃣ Stay curious and keep an open mind
3️⃣ Ask your doctor questions and concerns
4️⃣ If you don’t feel listened to, seen or safe, fire your provider (they work for you)
5️⃣ Build a health team that’s in alignment with your beliefs and is getting the results you want to experience in your life

So friend, what’s your body telling you today?

Nutrient-dense foods are fertility-boosting foods. 💫
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
These foods are staples in my home and I especially recommend them if you’re trying to conceive, pregnant or beyond!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🐟 Cold water fish like salmon or sardines or even fish roe. My hubby is a wild salmon fisherman so we eat *a lot* of salmon. It’s a great source of vitamin D and has Omega-3 fats such as DHA which is key for brain + fetal development.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🥚 Eggs are a great breakfast staple since they have both fat and protein to give you stable energy throughout the morning. They're also a great source of vitamins and minerals and other key fertility boosting nutrients. A few key nutrients include choline, DHA (Omega-3 fat), vitamin A, and vitamin E and more! Choline for example is key for brain development and can help prevent neural tube defects.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🥩 Liver is nature’s multivitamin. It’s rich in a ton of nutrients including vitamin A, D, E, and K, choline, iron, copper, B12, folate and more! It’s one of the most nutrient-dense foods we mamas can eat!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🍊 Antioxidant rich foods come in a rainbow of colors. Think oranges, bell peppers, blueberries, etc. Antioxidants fight oxidative stress in the body - which is really important when it comes to egg + s***m quality!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🥬 Dark leafy green veggies such as kale are another great source of vitamins and minerals. They are one of the most abundant sources of folate which is incredibly important for methylation (involved in gene expression, cell differentiation and organ development—- basically its critical for fetal development.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Again, these foods can support egg + s***m quality plus will nourish you + your baby from TTC through breastfeeding.

Repeat after me, “My body is wired for health.” Seriously, your body is amazing and meant to heal itself. 👏🏻

When walking through health challenges it’s so easy to feel like your body is working against you, but the truth is your body was actually designed to survive against all odds as well as thrive when given the right inputs.

Our nutrition and lifestyle has a BIG impact on our health.

The problem is processed foods, sedentary lifestyle, toxins, lack of sleep and stress all impact our body’s ability to recover and heal itself

This is especially true when it comes to your fertility, pregnancy and postpartum journey

That’s why I want to share a few simple upgrades you can make to your daily rhythm that’ll pay off over time…

🥦 Eat more whole real foods (food from nature - not a package)
✌🏻 Try to lower stress wherever possible (what’s 1 thing you can say “no” to)
📴 Put away the phone for an hour a day
☀️ Get outside for 20min, preferably in the sun
💊 Take a high-quality prenatal (regardless if you’re pregnant or not)
💄 Swap toxic products in your home for cleaner options
😆 Laugh, smile and spend time with ones you love

What’s 1️⃣ thing you will do today? Comment below 👇🏼

Many times women and moms take care of everyone else but themselves.

This nurturing trait is a beautiful aspect of our feminine wiring but can also become unhealthy if we don’t also care for our own well-being.

After all you can’t give what you don’t have.

As I think about tomorrow’s 🎙 episode with Carly Brown I’m inspired by her story of overcoming and think her story is such a good example of owning your wellness.

As you’ll hear tomorrow, she had a massive life event that forced her to make her own health and wellness a top priority, even in the midst of being a new mom.

Now she’s on the other side and is healthier than ever. She’s a glowing example of how your family, community and the whole world shines brighter when you make your own wellness a priority in your life. 💫

I’m so excited for you to hear more of her story and know your own wellness matters!

Feeling this hard today. As mamas, it’s so important we care for ourselves so we can care for our littles.

Even 15 mins of time for ourselves is so healthy.
