🌟 ADHD & Hormones: What Every Woman Should Know 🌟

Did you know that fluctuating hormones can intensify ADHD symptoms? Many women go undiagnosed for years, mislabeling their struggles as anxiety, burnout, or just being "too sensitive."

🧠 In my latest blog, I explore how hormonal shifts impact attention, mood, memory, and more — from puberty to perimenopause.

✨ If you’ve ever felt like your ADHD symptoms come in waves or get worse around your cycle, you are not imagining it.

🌟 I was recently a guest on the Faster Than Normal podcast with the incredible Peter Shankman!

We had a great conversation about ADHD, mental health, and why a thoughtful, integrative approach to psychiatric care can make all the difference. Peter’s podcast is all about celebrating the gifts of the ADHD brain—and helping people harness their unique strengths.

I’m so grateful for the opportunity to share a bit about the work I do and the patients I love helping. 💙

ADHD may pose significant challenges, especially in today’s world, which often values calmness, consistency, and focus. Yet, many people with ADHD come to realize that their condition is, in fact, a blessing in disguise. By shifting our perspective and recognizing ADHD as a source of unique strengths, we can help individuals embrace their natural abilities rather than seeing them as flaws.

Adult relationships are hard enough. If one or both partners have ADHD, the challenges become magnified. Research shows that adults with ADHD are significantly more likely to be divorced, and to be less satisfied with their personal relationships.

Check out my latest blog post which explores the unique obstacles that ADHD can pose in adult romantic relationships and how they may be overcome.

Eating Disorders Awareness Week (EDAW) is an annual campaign to educate the public about the realities of eating disorders and to provide hope and visibility to individuals and loved ones impacted by eating disorders. Eating Disorders Awareness Week 2025 is taking place Monday, February 24 – Sunday, March 2, 2025.

Eating disorders have the second-highest mortality rate among mental health conditions, with one person dying from an eating disorder every 52 minutes, yet many are unaware of the barriers that can make it difficult to find recovery, including a lack of understanding about eating disorders and their impact.

This year’s theme, “The Time is Now,” aims to shift this perception—by highlighting the importance of sharing knowledge and resources, encouraging early detection and treatment, and supporting ongoing research.

Together, let’s make this a turning point for greater awareness, empathy, and support for all impacted by eating disorders.

Studies have shown that males are twice as likely to be diagnosed with ADHD as females. For decades, it was thought that ADHD was more common in males and ADHD was viewed as a predominantly male disorder. We now understand that the lower rate of ADHD diagnosis in females may be because females with ADHD are frequently misdiagnosed or missed.

Check out my latest blog post on ADHD in females:

ADHD is commonly assumed to be a childhood disorder, however, in the majority of cases, people do not outgrow their ADHD but continue to experience the symptoms into adulthood. Despite our growing awareness of adult ADHD, fewer than 20% of adults with ADHD receive a diagnosis or treatment.
