“The basic difference between an ordinary man and a warrior is that a warrior takes everything as a challenge while an ordinary man takes everything as a blessing or a curse.”
― Carlos Castaneda
It really comes down to perspective and knowledge of our own perspective. If we believe we are cursed, we have excuses for our actions and responses. "Of course, things didn't go the way I wanted them to, it's this damn curse."
Same thing with feeling blessed or special. This can too easily lead to arrogance or a lack of effort.
The trick is to accept each moment as it comes and act in the way that will lead to the greatest awareness and growth. If we perceive a downward trend in our circumstances, we deal with it and move on, seeking to move past it and doing the same with upward turns, seeking that forward momentum towards our goals.
We can ride Fortune's Wheel or have it ride us; the choice is ours
It helps to know that, ultimately, we are not only the ones on the wheel but the spectators and the ones spinning the wheel as well.
