It's been 15 months of me in the independent practice. For 10 years before this I worked as a therapist in a team full of child psychologists, occupational therapists, psychiatrists, and mental health counselors. Little did I realise how different it is to be a therapist in private practice. To have absolutely no witnesses to your journey, you wonder if you have progressed or regressed.
Yes, you do have supervisors and friends. But colleagues who challenge you, watch you, teach you, and share their stories with you... that experience is irreplaceable. A tribe of therapists is what I aspire to find each day.
A tribe of therapists is my mojo. Healers who empower each other, voicing thoughts and playing together. This tribe of therapists find containment in each other. They help bolster each others vision and mission and find meaning in each other's company. This tribe is masculine and feminine, its young and old, its deep and light and it's strong and fragile. It is the whole spectrum.
I look for this tribe each day. I have pieces of them here and there but I aim to form the full circle.
Reach out if you resonate with this craving of mine.
