Dermoid cysts are common swellings seen around the eyes especially in children. These are painless benign masses, often seen just after birth and grow in size as the child grows.

This young gentleman sustained severe injury to his left eye while at work leading to loss of vision and eyeball. 2months post surgery we were able to reconstruct his left eye socket with fat graft and give him a custom fit ocular prosthesis.

Yet another orbital tumor delivered from the pandora's box!

Orbital tumors are not very uncommon lesions. These when arising from behind the eye, push the eyeball forward making it appear larger than the normal eye. Most of these lesions are painless and grow to significant size before the eye appears prominent.
They can press on the structures around them causing decreased vision and sometimes double vision as well.

Removal of this large tumor was done via a hidden incision inside the eyelid and the mass was removed completely.

Eyelid tumors are very common in our population and we routinely see a variety of these lesions in the clinic. It is important to differentiate benign tumors from the more dangerous malignant ones.

Another happy patient after droopy eyelid surgery in both eyes.

Another happy patient after surgery for droopy eyelid.

This young man was advised to leave his alone, dismissing his concern by calling it a cosmetic problem. He was not offered an option or a solution to his problem. I see this quite often in my practice.

Looking good is choice for everyone and i truly believe as physicians it is important to only present sound clinical advise: surgical or nonsurgical; cosmetic or functional! Once the patient knows in depth about the available options, he/she can make an informed decision regarding the surgery.

Door handle injury to eye especially in child can result in such eyelid tears. Sometimes the eyeball may also be seriously injured in these cases.

Eyelid injuries need to be meticulously repaired by an oculoplastic surgeon to restore normal eyelid structure and function. If not done by a trained oculoplastic surgeon, it may leave a deformity and an unsightly scar.

This 7year child suffered from similar door k**b injury while playing at home. Fortunately, his eyeball and vision was spared. (Right photo) 6months after the repair, its hard say which eyelid was torn! Almost scarless.
