Summer adventures can feel overwhelming for kids with autism — but social stories are a great way to set expectations, ease anxiety, and help them feel confident about what’s ahead.

✅ Write the story from your child’s point of view
✅ Include real photos or favorite characters
✅ Read it together often before the trip

Whether you’re flying on a plane, visiting the beach, or going on a long car ride, a simple social story can make a big difference.

☀️ Splash season is here—but so are safety concerns.

For children with autism, water can be incredibly enticing. Unfortunately, it also poses real risks: accidental drowning is a leading cause of death in the autism community.

🏊‍♂️ Why? Wandering behavior and an attraction to water can combine with limited safety awareness or difficulty responding to verbal cues.

What can caregivers do?
🔹 Supervise closely around any body of water
🔹 Use barriers like fences and pool alarms
🔹 Enroll in adaptive swim lessons if possible
🔹 Share your child’s needs with neighbors and first responders

Safety starts with awareness. Let’s help protect the kids in our care. 💙

Visuals speak louder than words — especially for young children with autism. 🧠✨

Research shows that many autistic children are strong visual learners, meaning they process and retain visual information more effectively than spoken instructions. That’s why visual schedules are one of the most powerful tools we use in ABA.

They help children:
✅ Know what’s coming next
✅ Feel more in control
✅ Transition more smoothly
✅ Gain independence

From “first/then” boards to full-day charts, visual schedules make abstract concepts like time and routine easier to understand.

Want to try one at home? Keep it simple and consistent — and use pictures that are meaningful to your child.
