The Nutrition Unit of the Integrated Provincial Health Office of Lanao del Sur (IPHO-LDS) attended the Program Implementation Review (PIR) of DSWD BangUN Region 10 held on November 11, 2025, at Tabes Place, Iligan City.

The activity highlighted the accomplishments of the BangUN Program in Kapai and Tagoloan, benefiting over 5,000 children and pregnant and lactating women. The Nutrition Unit of IPHO-LDS reaffirmed its commitment to support DSWD BangUN in improving the health and nutrition of families in Lanao del Sur.

Landscape Analysis and Nutrition Situation Assessment

In line with the continuous effort to strengthen nutrition programs in the province, the Integrated Provincial Health Office–Lanao del Sur (IPHO-LDS) under the leadership of Dr. Alinader Minalang, PHO II, actively participated in the Landscape Analysis and Nutrition Situation Assessment (LANA) workshop.

The activity was attended by Dra. Nihaya Macasindil, together with the Nutrition Team headed by Sittiehaya Pangandaman, RN, and representatives from the 14 PMNP areas. The workshop was organized by DOH–CHD Davao in coordination with the Nutrition Center of the Philippines, UNICEF, and the PMNP Regional Team (RPMO).

This meaningful activity provided an avenue to assess the nutrition situation of each RHU and to strengthen local interventions for improved health and nutrition outcomes.

Special thanks to the Ministry of Health–BARMM and the Nutrition Division under the leadership of Dr. Kadil Sinolinding, Jr., Minister and Ms. Celia Sagaral, RND, Chief of the Nutrition Division, for their continued support and guidance.

The Ministry of Health–BARMM, through the Integrated Provincial Health Office–Lanao del Sur under the leadership of Dr. Alinader Minalang, with support from the Nutrition Center of the Philippines, DOH CHD Davao, and UNICEF, successfully conducted the LANA Roll-Out and Nutrition Situation Assessment under the Philippine Multisectoral Nutrition Project (PMNP) on November 4–7, 2025.

The activity, held at Go Hotel, Davao City, was participated in by LGUs and field implementers, aiming to strengthen nutrition data management and governance through evidence-based planning and action.

The Nutrition Unit of Integrated Provincial Health Office of Lanao del Sur (IPHO-LDS) successfully conducted Day 1 of the Data Quality Check (DQC) for the FHSIS and Operation Timbang Plus (OPT+). The activity emphasized the importance of DQC in ensuring accurate, reliable, and evidence-based health and nutrition data for effective planning and program implementation. Sessions covered the significance of Operation Timbang and the proper procedures for calibration and verification. Participants came from the RHUs of Poona Bayabao, Ditsaan-Ramain, Pualas, Marantao, Taraka, and the City Health Office of Marawi.

Minalang, successfully conducted Day 1 of the Data Quality Check (DQC) for the Field Health Services Information System (FHSIS) and Operation Timbang Plus (OPT+), ensuring the accuracy and reliability of health and nutrition data across the province. In collaboration with the Ministry of Health–BARMM, PMNP-BARMM, UNICEF, and Action Against Hunger, the activity enhanced the capacity of municipal health teams in data validation, analysis, and utilization for evidence-based planning and decision-making. This initiative reaffirms IPHO-LDS’s strong commitment to improving data quality for better health outcomes and advancing the fight against malnutrition in Lanao del Sur.

The Nutrition Unit of Integrated Provincial Health Office of Lanao del Sur (IPHO-LDS), led by Dr. Alinader D. Minalang, successfully conducted three batches of the Philippine Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition (PIMAM) Training Roll-Out for Children Under Five, held from September 29 to October 17, 2025, in Marawi City. In partnership with PMNP-BARMM, UNICEF, Action Against Hunger, and the Ministry of Health–BARMM, the training enhanced the capacity of LGUs and frontline health workers in the early detection, management, and prevention of acute malnutrition. This initiative reinforces IPHO-LDS’s commitment to end malnutrition in Lanao del Sur by empowering local health teams to deliver timely, community-based, and life-saving nutrition interventions.

A Regional Technical Session was conducted by the Philippine Multisectoral Nutrition Project (PMNP) National Team, in collaboration with the PMNP Regional Office and representatives from various PMNP target areas. The session was held from September 1 to 5 at the Grand Regal Hotel in Davao City.

One of the key highlights of the event was the (LANA) Training of Trainers (ToT), which aimed to build the capacity of regional and local implementers in effectively assessing and responding to nutrition-related issues in their respective areas.

Among the attendees were the highly supportive Provincial Health Officer II of the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) Lanao del Sur Dr. Alinader D. Minalang the Minister of Health of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), Dr. Kadil Sinolinding and the Chief of the Nutrition Division Maam Celia Sagaral all of whom underscored the importance of collaborative action in improving nutrition outcomes in the region.

This event was particularly important as it provided a platform for knowledge-sharing, strategic alignment, and technical enhancement, all of which are essential in strengthening the implementation of the PMNP. It also reinforced the commitment of national, regional, and local stakeholders to combat malnutrition and to promote a more holistic, multisectoral approach to nutrition governance.

The Nutrition Unit of the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) Lanao del Sur recently held a coordination meeting with representatives from UNICEF, Action Against Hunger, and the Regional Program Officer of the Philippine Multisectoral Nutrition Project (PMNP).

The purpose of the meeting was to finalize the upcoming roll-out of the Nutrition Training for PMNP target areas across the province of Lanao del Sur. Discussions focused on the training modules, schedules, logistics, and strategies to ensure the effective implementation of the capacity-building activities aimed at strengthening local nutrition services.

The collaboration reflects the shared commitment of all partners to address malnutrition and improve the overall health and nutrition outcomes in the province.
