Matt Eller is an Auckland based Theatre Technician and Audio Engineer, having spent the majority of his career in theatre, working as a Technical Operator & Sound Designer for various companies and theatres in NZ.

He shifted his focus to live audio engineering when he moved to Auckland in 2015 and started working with the Modern Māori Quartet as their primary sound engineer and later, as their Road Manager.

Matt teamed up with Alice Canton and started the podcast ‘Going Off Script’, where they talk to people involved in the arts about their work and what is going on in the industry.

In 2020, just prior to the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, he started a new business called ‘Evoke Audio’, a music production and audio post-production company. Give their creativity and skills, they quickly modified their processes and continued to meet their deadlines while ensuring their top-notch service.

The cessation of the Arts industry as the government restrictions came into force, place a lot of his friends as freelance contractors in a very unsure place workwise. However true to the Arts, they were adaptable and created opportunities to push their talents from the comfort of their homes.

Matt’s Top Tips for these challenging times are:
1. The Arts Industry is an important, almost vital, part of our community
2. Support NZ Artists in whichever way you can!
3. Find the fun in exercise (he mentions how he has maintained a good frame of mind)
4. Not lose the close-knit sense of community that we have developed through Covid

A great interview with a young, motivated, and talented entrepreneur with a flair for all things Audio!

If anyone had any experience with Resilience, it is Linda Rugg.

In her life, Linda has experienced sexual and physical abuse, lost her husband to su***de leaving her as a single mum at the age of 43, feeling completely abandoned, lacking confidence and incredibly insecure about what the future held for her.

Knowing that life had so much more to offer and not knowing where to start, she embarked on a journey of self-discovery and new beginnings, towards living her impossible dream!

During these earlier times of Covid, her impossible dream is being able to wake up each morning and being able to decide what to do with her day.
In her keynote speaking roles she explores resilience and shares the real-life strategies that she put into place to move forward in her life and shares the belief that after trauma and rejection, life not only goes on but it can also be radically transformed to find new joy and meaning.

Linda takes a moment to break down the concept of Resilience through Covid:
- There are different levels of Resilience
- Life is and can be tough
- There is Practical/ Physical Resilience and Emotional Resilience

Her top tips over Covid includes:
1. Stop comparing yourself to other people
2. Ask yourself what you can learn from this, ‘what can I change?’
3. Look at what you do have, not what you do not have
4. Keep talking to others, keep connected.

If you are interested in finding out more about Linda and Resilience, you can find her on www.lindarugg.com. Go and check out her website, click on her Resilience link, download her e-book and drop her a message to book her in to speak at your organisation!

This incredible video provides you the chance to participate in a rare raw, open conversation with Kurani Masters providing a deep insight into mental health, depression, su***de and post-traumatic stress disorder.

Without too much of a lead in, Kurani and Laura enter into a frank discussion around Su***de and Self-Harm and how having the actual korero with people actually does more good than the perceived harm that we have come to believe it will do…

We are living in challenging times right now when there may well be a potential rise in mental health conditions amongst all of us.

This video aims to bring our awareness to this fact, and to invite us to open our eyes and our hearts to what may be going on for those around us... to take the mask off and to acknowledge the inner dialogue that we may have and to seek or offer help where we can.

Kurani Master’s Top Tips include:

1. Rembering that Mental Health is Invisible
2. Be kind to yourself (‘self-compassion’)
3. We see the world as we are, not as it is
4. Open the conversation, offer your genuine support, and allow the person to really feel that you are there for them

If you are seeking further insight into Kurani, you can find his book ‘Conversations with Darkness’ on Amazon.com under his pen name.

Trish Pemberton knows what a life of adversity is all about. She suffered child abuse from a really young age, was homeless, still endures Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, has been subjected to workplace bullying and to top it all off… a scare with Breast Cancer.

She brings to the conversation, the harsh reality of living on the streets with children during these challenging times, and sheds light on what they may be experiencing right now: fears, money, food, basic needs, a sense of pride, how to look after their family.

Trish takes on an incredibly grounded approach to life and to working from her heart to help others in need, while remembering too to honour Papatuanuku (our land) and the healing that she needs at this time.

Trish invites us all to ‘give a little’ and to think about those that are les fortunate than ourselves and asks us to think how how we can help not only during Covid times, but beyond too. She encourages us to use this time for reflection, to be grateful for all that we have and to do what we can to keep that personal touch with others.

Come join us for the next 35 minutes and hear all that Trish has to share xx

Sue Alrashe is a UK-based Health, Wellness and Executive Coach who works with stressed-out professionals dealing with intense burnout, helping them to create balance in their lives so that they can do more of what they love!

She has worked within the Corporate Industry for 30 years and has been through similar challenges to her clients. When Covid-19 hit the UK, she was in the process of establishing herself and making a home ready to welcome her husband to join her from another country. Lockdown restrictions saw that placed on hold, leaving the pair thousands of miles apart over these challenging times.

Sue relates Stephen Covey’s model where he compares our Circle of Concern with our Circle of Influence on the stress-out professionals that she works with, but also to our communities as a whole during Covid.

She offers great insights into how to get to a space of being prepared to take onto the current challenges, looking at ourselves first instead of our situations, taking into account the various hats that we wear and then unravelling how we get our life back into balance.

Sue also offers some top tips on how to stay connected to loved ones overseas:
1. Keep contact through whatever means possible (Facebook, Zoom, Whatsapp etc)
2. Try for contact a couple of times each day
3. Manage any time differences for ease of both of you

To add to that on a more general note, she also recommends that you remember to ‘Be Informed, Not Inundated’, and to set your intentions each morning to maintain as high a level of positivity as possible remembering that we have all gotten through challenges before!

If you would like to contact Sue to see if she can help you improve your Circle of Influence in your life, to de-stress and to do more of what you love doing, you can do so through her page True2You Coaching or through her website true2you.uk.com.

Brenda James brings with her an incredible journey of hitting rock bottom at the time that the Global Financial Crisis hit. She spent her days drunk, alone, broke and distraught with feelings of wanting to end it all.

Her story is a courageous one that saw her embark on a long, challenging journey of self-discovery and sobriety to reboot her life with renewed zest as a confident, well-respected woman who can navigate her way through both the complexities and the joys of life with ease.

Brenda meets with us today to speak firstly on using alcohol as a coping mechanism, and how even though it is socially acceptable in society, it only numbs the feelings of uncertainty and delays the inevitability of pain; and secondly on her approach to business and team dynamics through her company Team Reboot, where she focuses teams towards achieving their goals through an awesome series of workshops.

Her top takeaways for those using Alcohol as self-medication:
1. Getting sober is only the beginning of the healing process
2. Monitor your thoughts and express gratitude
3. You are not alone, or a bad person
4. Seek help through aa.org.nz or give Brenda a personal call, she is willing to help!

And for businesses seeking assistance with team dynamics:
1. Become aware of the dynamics within your team asking yourself how effective and efficient they are
2. Ask yourself if your team is in the highest state of workplace wellbeing that it possibly could be (in mind, body and spirit)
3. Get pro-active in these times and seek the help of team-reboot.com

In addition to all of this, Brenda also offers free webinars on her website: pauseandreboot.com and welcomes everyone to go and check them out!

Dietrich John Soakai sheds some light on this beautiful analogy, that once heard makes so much sense to parenting through Covid. He incorporates the analogy of your young person, riding on the elephant that is out of control and how we direct (or mis-direct) our communication, thereby rendering it not as effective as it could be.

Dietrich is a Spoken Word Poet and Communicator, and a Youth Development Worker. His passion lies in working with people of all ages, backgrounds, and cultures, using spoken word poetry as a means to get out what is going on in the inside. His ability to draw out and create space for individual creativity, using culture as an anchor makes him a success at everything he does.

He is a gifted, talented Poet as he demonstrates when put on the spot to create a Poem without preparation with the three words that I gave him in the video. Makes sure you watch it all the way to the end!

Dietrich’s top take-home messages are:

1. Find a middle ground between your young person and yourself as the parent.
2. Remember that you are the adult, with better regulation of your emotions.
3. Ensure that you do not project your emotions onto your young person.

If you are interested in contacting Dietrich, you can find him on Facebook at . It is a new page, so please head on over there and show him your support!

Dietrich, I applaud you and the space you hold for our young people of Aotearoa!

Kirsty Salisbury is an Auckland-based Speaker, Trainer, Podcaster, Author, Life Coach and Death Coach who speaks straight from her heart. She sets your heart at ease with her calm, soothing and caring nature and leaves you feeling incredibly humbled.

This poignant interview introduces a young girl who at the age of 12, suffered a sudden brain illness that took her to her deathbed and slightly beyond, to wake up hearing that she would never walk or talk again, leaving her feeling alone and abandoned.

It was this experience that she brings to the table today, after having countless conversations with herself and her higher being around the meaning of life, her greater purpose and how to tap into that source.
Kirsty’s podcast “Let’s Talk Life Design” and her book titled “A Life By Design” are reflective of her inner journey to make the most of each moment, to live her life by design and to make sure that we have the conversations around death before it is too late.

This video is jam packed with incredible insights and so many take-home messages, that it is virtually impossible to list them all! So, I will only list a few here for you, for the rest, I invite you to take a moment and share in her truths.

Kirsty's top take-home messages from this chat are that:

1. Life is for living!
2. You do not need to be clear on the big picture, just be open.
3. Take time to process your life, and ask what life is inviting you to do today.

Do not let fear hold you back from living a life by design!

If you feel drawn to getting in touch with Kirsty, you can find her at www.kirstysalisbury.com or at www.tinyhabits.co.nz.

Steve Watson is an Investment Marketing Director for an investment firm in Cape Town, South Africa.

He produces investment content to both small and large groups within the financial services field, providing them the content for their own marketing purposes, or speaking to them about the content.

He comes to this chat as a resilient South African in the midst of an extended lockdown period, functioning within a system that is not necessarily as supportive as other parts of the world.

Steve speaks to people with no buffer of disposable income, who are facing job losses and who are fearful around what the future may hold for them and their finances. His words of encouragement and support include not to be a stereotypical human and instantly panic in an amongst the chaos, but to rather do what ‘smart’ people would do.

His top takeaways for this video are:

1. To not think only about what is going on in the short-term
2. To get advice from and pay attention to the professionals
3. Use your time now to wisely plan your financial future

Steve’s approach is beautifully summarised in ‘start simple and stay true to your goals’.

Watch this video and come out of breathing a sigh of relief that you can get your finances under control in a few easy steps!

Well worth a watch!

Simon J Gault, well known as a MasterChef NZ Judge with active involvement in the ‘Why Are We Fat?’ and the ‘How We Eat’ documentaries, met up with me today to talk about the Health of all New Zealanders and beyond, in these potentially self-sabotaging times of Covid-19.

Six years ago, Simon was faced with a life-changing health scare that he was too embarrassed to tell his family about. It was with this in mind, that he sought out additional methods to the medication he was prescribed, and with that, started on his journey of self-discovery and awareness into how the body works.

Together with Nutritionist, Sean Robertson, Simon created the 4 Wheels of Health programme, a programme designed to fix the core functioning of your body’s biochemistry, your metabolism and to teach you what to do to improve your health, not just to tell you.

This video provides you an in-depth insight into Simon’s health journey, the essence of the 4 Wheels of Health programme and to their 4 main focus areas:

1. Quality Sleep
2. Time-Restricted Feeding
3. Gut Bacteria
4. Nutrition

If you would like to connect with Simon, he can often be found at Gaults Deli in Takanini, South Auckland (or on Facebook Sous Chef) so pop down there once lockdown is over and go show your support!

And if you are interested in the 4 Wheels of Health programme, the next intake starts on the 18th April, is done entirely ONLINE (so no excuses) and he would love to welcome you into his community, with his own personal flair and straight to the chase approach to health with an incredible joining offer.

The 4 Wheels of Health programme can be found on www.4wheelsofhealth.com or on Facebook 4 Wheels of Health

Watch this video all the way to the end to find out how to step into the brand new, post-Covid you!

On a side note, for all of you suddenly finding yourself in the kitchen, go and check out the Great Kiwi Cooks page to see Simon and other chefs in action.

(Any views as expressed by Simon in this video, can be taken up with Simon directly).
