{3 days later and I’m still on Cloud9💛} It rained the whole way up the mountain, but magically stopped when we got to the top. Long enough for the sweetest moment of my life where the most incredible human I’ve ever met asked me to marry him. I was emotionally unprepared and probably didn’t react externally in the most romantic and excessive of ways😬...honestly....I was pretty awkward 😂 but perfection doesn’t make a story beautiful. Daniel George, every second since I’ve met you has been more beautiful than the last. Every hard and painful moment has made the precious and sweet moments that much more beautiful. You teach me to be patient, to love and root deeply and to hold tight to the memories and moments that make us who we are. You make me brave, and you push me higher. I thank our Father for the sweet sweet gift He gave me through you. He’s a good God and He shows Himself through you everyday. I’ll always say yes to dreaming with you, and I hope I never take for granted the JOY choosing Jesus and His ministry is with you. 💛💛 It’s us forever and I’m over the moon in love☺️💛

{How does SELF CARE apply to KETO?} Wow wow wow! What a week! It’s finally the last day of my Keto 101 series🙉. I thought I would wrap the whole thing up by a little conversation on how KETO and SELF CARE are connected🤝



How many times have you reached for a donut or an ice cream sandwich with the intention of “treating yourself” and having a “Self Care day”? Same....too many times to count😬 In those moments I’ve found that the RECOVERY time from the sugar crash or brain fog far outweighed the time I took for that little bit of “me time”😭



It’s time to change our mindset. It’s time to see food for what it is: ENERGY. Provision! Sustenance. // It’s time to eat foods that
allow my mind to be clear and propel my body with energy to make a difference in the world.🤸🏽‍♂️



Food is FUN, and DELICIOUS. And healthy (even low carb!) Foods can be that way as well😋 // Just take a minute next time you have a “self care” date with yourself, and assess your motives. Are you looking to provide your body what it needs to live and thrive out of overflow? Or give it more things that weigh it down and SLOW it down? // You CAN have fun, relax and indulge...all you need is a few simple, but necessary, lifestyle changes and you’ll WHOLEY be taking CARE of yourSELF!💛🥬🥑🌿

{Where do I buy for Keto groceries?🍅🥑🥬} Day 5 of my 6 day series is all about how to shop and afford this new lifestyle.



💲💲I'm all about saving money and not going broke. I think we should prioritize our bodies, but I think you can do that and prioritize your budget as well. ✨


🍔🍟Here's the thing, if you eat out a lot, you WILL save money by eating at home. Even eating all organic. But if you're used to living off ramen + mac & cheese every day, this will definitely be a little bit of a stretch! Here's just a few tips on how you can make this work no matter where you're at: ✨


♻️BUY BULK. Not only is this better on the environment, (and aesthetic when you use, glass jars) but companies don't have to spend as much money on the packaging and processing and can get it for cheaper prices. I personally go to or in my area for bulk items, but most natural foods stores have this option.



🌿THRIVE MARKET. I always suggest buying local and in bulk if you can, but I recognize we don't all have this convenience near us. Thrive Market is my favorite place to get snacks specifically, but they have everything you could possibly need at a discounted price. 🍕🍳🌮Make sure to get foods you LIKE. This doesn't have to be the worst 6 weeks of your life. Daniel and I still have pizza nights, brunch dates, taco nights, etc. all in keto options. Pinterest and Google are jam packed with recipes and ideas for these! Be careful because not ALL of them are accurate, but its not too difficult to find bomb recipes for any even or food craving you've got going on. {HOW DO I START KETO?} So far this week we've chatted about WHAT is Keto, WHY Keto, WHEN to start Keto, and today I'll be filling you in on the HOW.

💡To start with, Keto isn't just about carbs...its about fats, love😘 To get your body into ketosis (where your body is using fat for energy instead of ketones) the rule of thumb is to keep your carb intake at 5% of your total foods, Fats at around 75-80% and Protein at 15-20%. This rule of thumb will get you pretty far, but depending on where your activity levels are, your hormonal situation, and your overall weight, the actual numbers these break down to are different for everyone.

{WHEN SHOULD I START KETO} Alright babe. Its DAY 3 of our 6 step journey through what and why and how a ketogenic lifestyle is walked out! Glad you're here. :)

🕙So. When should I start Keto? Immediately, right?? Welllll not necessarily. •

•⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🚫Because there are no "cheat days" when it comes to the process of getting into to ketosis (otherwise you typically have to start all over) I really encourage you to PLAN. •

•⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✅ANY day is a good day to start eating healthier, and I HIGHLY encourage starting the process of being AWARE of your carb and sugar intake and starting to cut out as much as you can! But I know for me, committing to even 4-6 full weeks of Keto with Daniel, required a lot of prep. •

•⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💡Because of my eating disorder past, my body was sensitive to fasting and the feeling of starvation. Full no carb days were not an option for me at the beginning. I had to start slow as I cut out certain carbs, but still eating a daily complex carb such as certain fruits or potatoes. I had to prep my BODY for this change just as much as my pantry!

👤For Daniel, he had to be MENTALLY prepared to say no to certain foods and to be conscious about not over-snacking or snacking on the wrong things. When he was ready, he totally killed the little over 4 weeks we did it! (so thankful for you, !) But I think its physically and MENTALLY healthy to not push such a massive change too soon. •

{WHY KETO?} This is my SECOND post in a 6 day series on the What, When, Where, How and Why’s of Keto! Check out yesterday’s post on “WHAT is Keto?”👌🏼🥰



Why Keto? Pals, the scientific and biological evidence and studies on this way of eating is overwhelming.
Scientifically speaking (don’t worry, I’ll explain in human terms!😂😊️) mostly everyone is on board with the fact that sugar causes inflammation and other messy side effects in the body. Carbs are just another form of sugar, babe🤷🏻‍♀️🙁 I know, it’s disappointing but it’s true! // here are 3 of my personal WHY’s for Keto!

✨LOWER INFLAMMATION. Y’all inflammation causes SO MUCH crap to go on in the body! Get that outta there by significantly lowering carb and sugar intake. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✨MENTAL CLARITY AND FOCUS. Along with lowering inflammation, our brains NEED and LOVE ketones (what our liver produces while in ketosis) for energy! It’s literally brain food. My focus and mental clarity is multiplied and heightened like none other when I eat this way. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✨ Not only does my brain fog (which used to be debilitating) subside, but my ENERGY increases as well! I used to have really bad chronic fatigue. This way of eating has saved me personally in so many ways, mentally, physically AND emotionally! • •

{WHAT IS KETO?} today I’m starting a series of posts explaining the What, Why, When, How, and Where’s of Keto! •


In short, Keto is a style of eating that requires keeping Carbs (a macronutrient that turns to sugar when consumed) to around 5% of your daily food intake, and fats around 70-80%.



This allow your body to use your fat stores for energy (allowing better endurance and longer energy), as well as allows your liver to produce more ketones, which is what your brain prefers for energy. (hence the name Keto/Ketosis) If our brains prefer fat for energy, then when we eat high carb, low fat diet we’re literally starving our brain of the very nutrients it needs to function as God created it. •
