Self-compassion, empathy, and self-forgiveness are a must in this journey. We all do the best we can with what we know, and starting now is better than never.
Survival of the fittest mentality. When the bullied becomes the bully. When the abused becomes the abuser... It’s a form of self-preservation. When we don’t feel safe to be ourselves. When we don’t feel accepted as we are.
We see examples of this everywhere, especially in various world events. Hence the saying, “History always repeats itself.”
But it doesn’t have to be this way.
We may not have control over a lot of things in life, but we can control the role we play in our own healing journeys.
Just like small steps lead to big results, measurable change around us always starts with us doing our part. By doing the inner work to heal, learn from our past experiences, and becoming the best version of ourselves.
Healing is hard and messy. But I promise it is worth the effort.
P.S. If you’re further along in your healing journey, you likely realize some survival-driven behaviors of your past. If so, don't underestimate the power of reaching out to those you may have hurt when you didn’t know any better. It can be an incredibly healing and freeing experience for both parties. We may never get the apology we need, but offering it to others contributes to healing the greater collective.
Sending you so much love and empowering energies on your journey 🙏🏼❤️✨.
