This weekend Galen Myotherapy’s Julia Robertson and Beate Bjornhom are excited to be presenting at the Pet Dog Trainers of Europe (PDTE) conference in Slovenia.

They are both thrilled to be speaking, especially as this year, the conference theme is “Movement Matters” which aligns perfectly with their work and Galen Myotherapy ethos and ethics!

We will be sharing some pictures with you over the coming days!

Toenails. If you can hear click click click when your dog walks across a hard floor, then their nails are too long. But so what? It affects their posture and makes them lean forwards and arch their back. Stimulation to the dog's feet tells them where the ground is and how to maintain balance. When their nails touch the ground it tells their brain that they are walking up hill!

I'll feed you, I'll dry you, I'll clean your bottom & clear up your poo. I'll wipe away your eye bogies, I'll make sure you can see me, I'll protect you, I'll lift you when you fall & help you up when your legs won't hold you. I'll make you a comfy bed & keep you warm. I'll praise & reward you when you wee in the garden, rather than the house. I'll give you cuddles & kisses & massage your aching body. I'll give you pain meds on time, every day. I may not be your first "Mum", but I will be your last. And when you don't want to be here anymore, I'll help you to leave, & kiss your soft head & hold you till you've gone, though it will break my heart, because I love you.

Repetitive and unnatural movements cause our dogs issues over time. This can include asking your dog to sit every time you come to a road, or throwing a ball for them over & over again. Even going up & down stairs - compare the size of each stair to the length of their legs. Imagine us doing that, climbing stairs that are as much as twice the length of our legs! Jumping in & out of the back of a car. Think - is your dog designed to do that? Would they do these movements if they were wild?
I've attached an interesting Blog about "sitting".

"He's getting on and it's just a bit of arthritis".
Osteoarthritis is progressive, PAINFUL and not curable. How much pain depends on how advanced it is, whether he's over weight, what his exercise regime is and certain aspects of his home life. BUT there are so many things you can do to help him live with it WITHOUT pain.
Contact me for help and advice to give your dog the very best life he can have with this disease. Carole x

🦷 Missing that fresh smile due to bad smelling breath? It isn’t always an ‘ooh its cos they’re old thing! 🦷

🩺 Just like us, cats and dogs can experience dental issues that require attention.
Take a moment to assess your pet's breath. If it's less than pleasant, it could be a red flag for dental issues such as gum disease, plaque buildup, or tooth decay. 🩺

🦷 If you’ve noticed any new dental symptoms in your pet, contact us today. 🦷

Next in our Tongue to Tail series is the Tongue!

Did you know that a dog uses their tongue for balance?

The tongue is suspended from the hyoid apparatus and if this is damaged, it can affect your dog's balance and also cause neck pain.

Something as seemingly insignificant as face planting or running into an object can lead to this type of injury,

If you’re worried about your dog, you can either find a therapist here: https://www.galenmyotherapy.com/team
Or use our Distance Support Programme: https://www.galenmyotherapy.com/dsp
