Arturo Jalen Lombre was born with Alport Syndrome. Alport Syndrome is a genetic condition characterized by kidney disease, loss of hearing, and eye abnormalities. An abnormality of a gene that codes for type 4 collagen and usually presents in patients with hematuria, edema, and hypertension causes Alport Syndrome.
In July 2022, at the age of 22, AJ went into end-stage renal failure, meaning that neither of AJ's kidneys were functioning. AJ currently is on dialysis three days a week to remove waste from his body and to stay alive. For his best chance, he needs a kidney transplant.
Fortunately, AJ is Type A blood which allows him a greater opportunity to find a compatible kidney. The average wait time for a transplant it six years, unless a living donor can be found. This is where you can help. We need to get the word out to those who are registered to donate, or who are willing to be a living donor.
Please share the Find A Kidney for AJ page on your social media periodically. Help us spread the word.
If you wish to check if you are a compatible donor, please go to ucdonor.org . Be sure to have his full name Arturo Lombre and birthdate 09/02/1999.
