Yoga on Instagram is a discussion in itself... often the focus is too much on showing off, bending like a pretzel and presenting your long, bendy legs or arms...
First of all, while we really enjoy demonstrating postures and reflecting where we are in the process ourselves, in our classes you will always hear us talk about the foundation, you need for good alignment and free breathing.
In most asanas our feet and hands actually are these grounding points or foundation. Think about all standing poses, but also Downward Facing Dog or even Uttanasana. Where and how you place your hands may have an effect on the pose as much as the grounding of your feet.
"Here you can see my hands - or fingers really - in a bind behind my chest, on the back of my heart. For a long time my hands were not able to touch, so I used a strap. I will never forget the feeling, when they first met again - it is so weird but also funny to kinda try to see with your fingers for a moment, cause clearly your eyes point in the other direction.", Kathrin says.
