When we think of self-care we often think โ€œeating healthy and exercisingโ€. Yes, taking care of our physical health is very important but not the only way to take care of ourselves. Taking care of all the parts of ourselves is necessary. Our emotional and mental health matters too!

Taking care of yourself can look like:
โœจAsking for help.
โœจSetting boundaries and parting ways with unhealthy relationships.
โœจPracticing self-compassion.
โœจAllowing yourself to feel all emotions.
โœจSaying no!
โœจListening to your body and resting when needed.

Stop telling moms they look tired. No one wants to hear this. Would it make you feel good? She knows this, feels this and probably sees it every time she looks in the mirror.

Instead, tell her sheโ€™s doing a great job. She may not see this with everything going on. Remind her. Remind her of how amazing she truly is! Tag a special mama in your life๐Ÿ’•

Letโ€™s be honest. Life isnโ€™t always easy. ๐Ÿ™„There will be days where we get triggered by someone or something and it can feel nearly impossible to โ€œjust calm down.โ€ (Donโ€™t you just hate when someone says that?)

However, it is possible to regain equilibrium and relax after a triggering event! It may not be as simple as โ€œjust calming downโ€ but it CAN be done, and you CAN do it.

1๏ธโƒฃChange your environment. Self soothe by going outside and focusing on something pleasant, such as the greenery or the smell of fresh air.
2๏ธโƒฃSpeak to yourself with compassion, out loud. Give yourself the same compassionate energy you so easily give to everyone else. You deserve it.
3๏ธโƒฃListen to soothing music. Get out of your headspace and listen to something that will have a calming effect on you.
4๏ธโƒฃFocus on your breathing. Regulate your breathing by exhaling slower than you inhale.
5๏ธโƒฃTake a shower or bath. Relax by taking some alone time and shift your focus on the feeling of the water as it touches your skin.

STOP shaming moms for their decision to work or to stay home.

Itโ€™s important to be mindful that some women donโ€™t really have a choice in whether theyโ€™re working moms or stay-at-home moms. Some women are forced to work when theyโ€™d rather be at home due to financial stressors, and some women have to be at home when theyโ€™d rather be working due to struggles with childcare. OR she simply CHOOSES to be a stay-at-home mom or a working mom because it makes her HAPPY. ๐Ÿ’•

She is a GREAT mom either way. Letโ€™s stop criticizing and start supporting and validating one anotherโ€™s experiences instead. ๐Ÿ’•
