📣Our clinic strives to provide accessible healthcare services to our communities. During the month of March, 69 scheduled appointments were no-show and April is also off to a poor start with 17 no-shows in the first 4 days of the month. If you no longer need an appointment, it is important that you call the clinic and speak to staff or leave a voicemail to cancel, which allows that time to be offered to another patient from our weekly waitlist.📣

For Black women, the Nova Scotia Sisterhood is more than a healthcare clinic. It’s a safe space where they can feel seen, heard and supported.

The sisterhood helps Black women access the care they need while addressing barriers and rebuilding trust in the healthcare system. Travelling primary care clinics, pap parties, mental health support and help with navigating the health system are just some of the ways that the sisterhood helps their clients.

This African Heritage Month, we celebrate this amazing team for all the work they do in supporting the community and uplifting Black women.

Channelle Beaumont is a Mi’kmaw Indigenous Patient Navigator who was initially drawn to a career in healthcare because she’d experienced her own health challenges and knew how hard it was to navigate the system.

Now, Channelle is helping other Mi’kmaq and Indigenous patients and families navigate the system, working to “ensure they receive the culturally appropriate care that they rightfully deserve.”
