Immediately you return from the hospital. Start practicing tummy time. For newborns, apart from helping their neck, shoulder, arms, motor skills etc. It help drastically control colic p@ins in newborns if you're consistence with it.
Don't place your newborn on the floor or sofa. They're tender. Gradually build their muscle till one month with chest to chest tummy time method.
Lie with your back on a well comfortable floor more preferably. Or lie on your sofa.
Carefully lift and place your newborn directly on your chest, tummy-down. The baby chest should be resting against you, with the arms forward.
Your baby will be motivated to lift its head to look at you. Smile, make eye contact, and talk or sing to your baby softly.
Keep the session short. For a newborn, 1–2 minutes, or even just 30 seconds. Stop the session if they become fussy or start to cry. Do it several times a day as you can and make sure the position is encouraging the baby to lift its head .
