I stepped into the pool around 5:15pm and felt instant relief the second my stomach hit the water. I labored there for about an hour and during one of my contractions I yelled “I just pushed” my body did it itself. I did some pushing in the pool and got into different positions. At this point I knew I was in transition because I started doubting myself and was confused why the baby wasn’t coming out. I kept saying “I don’t know why they aren’t coming out, and “are they stuck” because with Easton I only pushed 2 times and he came flying out. I was having stomach and back labor this time. Everyone reassured me that everything was fine and maybe I should try getting out of the water and be more grounded.

I got out of the pool at 7pm and also decided to be checked again for dilation, I got onto the couch and was checked, I was 10cm 100% effaced. Okay go time for sure now. I decided to get off the couch and get onto the floor and hang over the couch to push. Contractions were soooo intense and my back was killing me, I need counter pressure on my hips and on my back…..this time I could really feel the head coming down. I screamed and said “I can’t do it” this time I felt the ring of fire (didn’t have that with Easton) Hillary told me the baby had hair and asked if I wanted to touch the head, I couldn’t I was too tired….one more push the head was out! Baby was sitting there for a couple minutes with just the head sticking out and she said “they are opening their eyes” baby gave me about 2 minutes of rest to catch my breath, Hillary said to me “this next contraction I want you to get the shoulders out” one more big contraction and they came out! Hillary caught the baby and flung them up to me in my arms at 7:50pm….”omg” I kept saying….I couldn’t believe I did it, they are here….I looked down and cried “ITS A GIRL” I couldn’t believe it…a girl, Easton was right. I was in awe! I got back up onto the couch and just held her, looked at her, soaking her in on my chest. Minutes go by and my cord went white so Jer cut the cord. 45 minutes later my placenta was delivered! I couldn’t believe we had a baby girl🩷

At this point I then decided to go in and do some more hip stretches and start pumping at 1pm. I pumped for about 20 minutes and my contractions were around 3 minutes apart lasting 45 seconds. I texted Hillary letting her know but told her not to come yet because I didn’t feel like I was ready for her, once I stopped pumping the contractions stopped. I texted her and my doula saying if they thought it would be a good idea for me to lay down and see if I could get a nap in as I knew I would need to save my energy for the birth, they both agreed it would be smart decision so Jer and I both went into the bedroom and laid down at 3pm.

At 3:30pm I started to have some contractions and they were coming on strong every 5 minutes lasting 90 seconds about. I was started to need counter pressure from Jer on my back and really had to focus on my breathing and relaxing which then I knew I was going to start needing more help so I texted my doula asking if she was able to come and also texted my midwife asking if she could come now, then called my photographer and let her know it would be a good idea for her to start heading to me. Everyone was about 45 minutes to an hour away from me.

At 4:30-4:45 everyone showed up to our house, Hillary came into the bedroom and had a listen to baby with the doppler and everything sounded good, at this time I asked her to give me a cervical check, she checked me and I was 4cm. She could tell I was a little disappointed I was only 4cm and reassured me that you know you can go from 4cm to 10cm in 10 minutes and she was right I did know that! At this point the pool was being filled for me to get into it to get some relief…..

Ellis birth story part 1🕊️

Let me start off by saying you know it’s going to be a good birth when both you and your midwife decide to both where the same hairstyle😜

May 24th at 6am I woke up to p*e and get a snack, as I was laying in bed I felt a trickle of water in my underwear at 6:23, looked down and realized my water had just broke! I woke Jeremy up and very calmly said to him “don’t freak out, but my water just broke”. I got up and first called Hillary (midwife) to let her know my water had broken but no contractions had started yet. She told me to just continue on my day as usual and get a good breakfast in my system and let her know if contractions start. Next, I called my doula and my photographer to also let them know and just have a heads up. 30 minutes went by and no contractions had started, which was very different from Eastons birth. I put on a diaper as I knew more fluid would continue to come out. I decided to go out in the kitchen and make myself some breakfast, Easton soon woke up and continued about our normal mornings with him.

At 9:30am we had a prenatal appointment with Hillary so we listened to baby’s heart beat, felt how baby was positioned, I decided I did know what to have a cervical check done (since my water had broken I wanted limited chance of infection) she mentioned since contractions still haven’t started to go for a walk around the neighborhood and then also could do something pumping if the walk didn’t start anything. We went for the walk around the neighborhood with Jer and Easton, some light contractions started but nothing bad at all, just like light period pains. We got back home and I was doing some light hip stretching outside as Easton played with chalk. I was going back and forth about if Easton should stay and be here for the birth or go with my mom, Jer and I both decided it would be better for him to go to my moms so I called her and she came and got him….
