A Call to the H2A Community and Beyond
A 25-year-old H2A worker from South Africa was admitted to the ICU at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans with severe liver failure. Upon his arrival in Louisiana, JC was unwell and initially treated for a bladder infection. JC’s situation took a dire turn as he experienced full organ failure and was placed on life support. The doctors and the ICU nurses expressed grave concerns about his prognosis, fearing he might not survive the night.
JC's journey has been nothing short of a rollercoaster, filled with uncertainty and a glimmer of hope. While doctors believe they can stabilize JC enough for him to go home, the final prognosis is devastating: without a heart transplant.
JC, like many H2A workers, has come to the United States legally on a work visa, leaving behind his home and loved ones in South Africa. These dedicated workers are the backbone of our agricultural industry, toiling tirelessly on farms to ensure our food supply is steady and our grocery store shelves are stocked. Their contributions are invaluable to our country, and their sacrifices are profound.
JC is a fighter, and his miraculous turnaround is a testament to his strength and the power of collective prayers and support. Let’s come together to help him continue this fight and return to good health.

Even a small donation could help JC get a new Heart. And if you can't make a donation, please share the fundraiser to help spread the word.
