Hi there! Today i want to share w/you the top 3 things that helped me recover from anxiety disorder. Just to give you a brief background, I was diagnosed with it when i was 18 yrs old that was in 1997. Was prescribed benzos & anti depressants but i stopped taking them because of their unpleasant side effects.Life goes on didn't care that much though i would still have panic attacks at times. But in 2017 was when i experienced severe anxiety in my life. I had extreme panic attacks every single day, severe insomnia, feeling strange about myself & my environment, are just few of the things that almost rob my sanity. So today i want to share with you what i did so you too if you are suffering from anxiety disorder can finally get out of that prison in your mind & be free again.
1.Have a healthy gut
Did you know that your gut is considered your second brain? According to studies 90% of serotonin production comes from the gut not from the brain. So we really need to pay attention to our gut health. A troubled intestine can send signals to the brain, just as a troubled brain can send signals to the gut. Therefore, a person’s stomach or intestinal distress can be the cause or the product of anxiety, stress, or depression. That’s because the brain and the gastrointestinal system are intimately connected.
In my case i had severe acid reflux during the time that i also experienced extreme full blown panic attacks. But when i started healing my gut that's when i felt a shift in my mental health.
Start taking care of your gut by investing in a good probiotic supplement & eliminating sugary foods from your diet.
2.Essential Oils
Instead of grabbing your benzos when having a panic attack try Lavender essential oil instead.Very effective & no side effects at all. Essential oils are very powerful because they have a direct impact on our limbic system where the amygdala is located. The amygdala is like an alarm system that recognizes danger and prepares the body to react. When fear and danger are processed, it initiates our fight or flight response.So when having a panic attack, logic and processing are completely nonexistent that's why no matter how hard you try to tell yourself to keep calm,you just cant.
This is where essential oils are HUGE!
Because our sense of smell is directly connected to the amygdala. So just opening a calming essential oil and smelling it can trigger the limbic system to release endorphins (which help relax the body) and serotonin (which aid in calming). That's why i love essential oils. They have helped me overcome every panic attack that i had since i used them.
3.Personal relationship with Jesus
Accepting Jesus in my life as my personal Lord & Savior will always be the greatest decision that i've ever made in my entire life.He has given me light & hope during my darkest days when it's nowhere to be found. He has given me the endurance that i need when im about to give up because of intense fear & sadness. He gives me comfort like no one can give. Spending time with him by praying & reading His word has opened my eyes to the truth & has set me free from the bo***ge of fear. He's been & will always be my hidden sanctuary where i can find peace,joy and comfort over & over again.
