What Consistency Really Looks Like

I've had this chat with 3 clients already this week so thought I'd share here too👇

We talk a lot about consistency in training, in nutrition, in showing up for yourself. But here’s the truth:

I think people get consistency and perfection confused.

Consistency isn't 100% every day. It’s not hitting every workout, nailing every meal, hitting your step target every single day.

Some weeks you’ll be flying. Things will feel easy, you'll have lots of energy.

Other weeks? Life happens. You might have a crazy work week or be juggling more with the kids. Or both. These weeks are going to happen and you'll have more like 30% to give rather than 90-100%.

And guess what?

That’s still consistency.

You're showing up in some way, even if it's a walk instead of a gym session, you're drinking enough water or getting your 5 portions of fruit & veg.

It's all part of the journey and this isn't a sprint.

Long-term consistency means riding the waves, giving 100% when you can and your 30% on the week you only have 30%.

If you’ve been putting off exercise because you feel like you’re not fit enough, strong enough or confident enough yet - this is for you.

You don’t need to be “good” at it to start.

Nobody starts out knowing what they’re doing and everybody has to start somewhere.

Just start.

Even if you feel awkward, or uncomfortable, it will get easier.

Feeling “off” after the bank holiday? Here’s your gentle reset ⬇️

1. Get your workouts scheduled into your calendar. Then you know what’s happening when, and there’s no scramble to fit everything in at the end of the week.

2. Plan out your dinners for the rest of the week, make a list of all the ingredients you need and grab a food shop.

3. Get out for a walk. Even 10 mins of fresh air will help.

Doing these 3 things will help you get some more structure and routine into your week.

You will feel loads better for it and you’ll be working toward those goals 💥

3 THINGS I WOULD NEVER SAY AS A COACH

❌ You just need to push harder. No excuses.
There’s a time and place for pushing hard but sometimes, life happens and you have to do what you can. I’ll meet you where you’re at and help you build consistency in a way that works for you and your lifestyle.

❌ You have to be super motivated to get results. Motivation will come and go. Results come from showing up consistently and building habits that fit into your life so you can maintain them in the long run.

❌ Lifting weights isn’t for beginners, let’s start with cardio. Strength training is for everyone and I love working with total beginners who have never touched a dumbbell. I’m on a mission to help women feel empowered and confident lifting weights 💪🏼

30TH BIRTHDAY 🎉

What a day it’s been!

2024 round up ✨

It’s taken me a long time to decide what to post… I don’t just want to post the highlights and pretend last year was all smiles and smooth sailing (it certainly wasn’t). But, I do want to share a bit of a round-up and celebrate the amazing times, so here it goes!

✨ In February I left my full time job to build Get Set Sweat to help as many people as possible feel confident lifting weights and amazing in themselves 🫶🏼 This was a long time coming and I’m so proud of what I achieved in 2024.

✨ I’ve spent a lot of this year flying by the seat of my pants and figuring out how to be self-employed 😂 Still working on it! Juggling all aspects of business whilst maintaining my own health & fitness hasn’t been easy. There’s been many a time I’ve doubted I’m capable, felt overwhelmed and many times I’ve cried. Still so worth it. I also wouldn’t have been able to do this without all the help and support from my amazing family and friends.

✨ Another lambing season on the farm 🐑

✨ Training went well in the first half of the year, but I won’t lie, it’s been a real struggle during the second half! I’m ready for some new goals, and more of a routine and structure to build more consistency in 2025.

✨ Two beautiful family weddings in the first of the year 💒

✨ Some incredible memories from my hen parties with my BEST girls which were just epic - too many good photos to choose from 📸

✨ Not captured in the photos is the grief from the loss of a family member who’s sorely missed.

✨ 7TH SEPTEMBER - married my best friend 🤍 This day was absolutely incredible! Such a fantastic day, which also came with A LOT of stress and planning.

✨ OUR HONEYMOON 🐅🦓🐘🐯🦁 the trip of a lifetime. Still not over it 🥹

✨ Rounding up an incredible year at Get Set Sweat. Thank you to all my amazing clients past and present that have chosen me to help support them in achieving their goals. It means the world to me.

Excited for what’s to come in 2025 - let’s go 💪🏼

An honest one from me 🙋‍♀️

I am feeling totally exhausted. I’ve really been feeling super low on energy and motivation these last few weeks.

This goes for training, jobs around the house, getting ready for a Christmas (I’ve been such a grinch!).

This year has been so full on. I’ve picked up an elbow injury which means I can’t train the way I usually would. I’m sure also the time of year being cold and dark is playing into it as well.

All in all, I’ve just been feeling a bit 💩

BUT, here’s what I’m going to do about it.

It’s the same thing I’d recommend to my clients in a similar situation.

I’m going to focus on doing things that GIVE me ENERGY.

Right now this looks like dialling in on my nutrition to make sure I’m fuelled and to support my energy levels throughout the day.

I’m working on getting a decent breakfast prepped for each day, and planning out all my meals so I know I have something nutritious to grab in between client sessions.

Running endorphins also help! Feeling great after a festive evening run with run club.

Sometimes it’s tough to do the things that you know will help you feel better.

I’m going to do my best to keep this up through my Christmas holidays too, whilst also taking some down time to rest, so that come January I’m feeling recharged and ready to go 🙌🏼
